EQ Hanging when trying to connect to server

Ok, I've got a problem. I'm not able to logon to the server. I've tried reinstalling, repatching, replacince eqgame and the various dll's and reinstalling video card drivers and DirectX, and I'm stumped. Everytime I get to the server select screen, EQ will go to the desktop, and then hang.

Have you looked at possible factors outside the game? Firewall or other (maybe unwanted) softwares that may be causing an issue with connection?
