Somatic Bond and Avatar of Destruction are a enchanters primary and only way to effectively DPS.

I love this idea but I feel it needs a few tweaks, If other people are going to be your only way to dps, Somatic Bond and Avatar of Destruction should stack with everything, A class shouldn't be losing its ability to dps because of an item on another player. I've been limited on what i can do and been unable to go to certain things because group composition has it setup where ill be about the dps of a mage pet.

Another thing that infuriates me about my dps being based on other people pushing buttons, I spend 350 mana on Somatic Bond or 450 on Avatar of Destruction and they are afk though the entire thing and i just wasted a buttload of mana, This doesn't happen alot on raids but in XP groups this is a huge thing these spells cost alot to spend, I would just recommend if you cast either on someone and nothing is done the mana is returned or maybe just half?
 
I think those are minor downsides to basically top 3 dps on almost any raid while having a worse charm/tome than everyone else.

Somatic Bond and AoD have their flaws but as it stands they are just crazy good DPS combined with the utility and buffs and crowd control and good looks that the class already has. Enchanters are a support class with the highest DPS and best utility and can shoot bows and everyone around them is just better when they join the group.

Anyways to address the problem if all of your DPS are afk when you want to hit things on an enchanter that is what the True Giant tomes are for, even with Irandos you can do solid dps w/ somatic bond/boon/rbow/etc.
 
I think a good fix for chanters would be to dramatically reduce the mana of AoD but then add in the mana for the spells that they mimic. That would also help them out by allowing bracer procs. Would eliminate the need to worry about an afk groupmate.
 
If you want to talk mana efficiency:
AoD - > 450 mana lasts 3 ticks (18s)
Wiz Archaic Moon Comet -> 525 mana takes 6s to cast so in theory get on average 2 MC's per AoD that is roughly 1050 mana
Wiz Runic Flash Flame -> 400 Mana cast time 1s so in theory you can get get 4 runics per AoD that is roughly 1600 mana

Necro runic -> 1020 mana
Necro archaic -> 480 mana
Thus aoding a necro is roughly 1500 mana equivalent with 2 spells

If in an exp an average of 1 in 3 AoD's are wasted you are still breaking even or ahead.
 
I don't main an enchanter but I like the reliance on other group members for dps. I think it creates a more fun and dynamic environment compared to pressing auto attack or spamming moon comet. It adds another layer of synergy in terms of micromanagement and group composition. In theory it would be neat if other classes had similar reliances.

Also, not sure if it's a known bug, but seems like the place to mention it just in case, but I believe AoD messes up necro runic2, stealing it from the necro.

We would go oom in about a 4th the time it takes any other caster, we already spend mana above average fast for being int dps. You seen really defensive for no reason but remember enchanters don't get ult blasts, or a tome to make our rains crit better, or any AA's specific to the class/spells we are casting. Spending full mana for these things without those bonus's would be completely unbalanced.

I to love the way enchanters do there dps its fun and engaging, i just think it could use a few tweaks, None of what i suggested would give them anymore bonus in a raid setting, and would only benefit them in xp, I would never SB a rog/bard over Aoding anything else or SBing a ranger, Not stacking with custo sword only makes high tier rogs/bards not stack well at all. As for returning the mana for a bunk AoD/SB, once again no benefit in raid as by the time i am AoDing/SBing them its 10% into the fight and no ones afk, but in a group setting its not hard to believe someone looks away for 12 seconds and you just wasted 450 mana on nothing.

Can you make AoD/SB continue to land on the original target you ware targeting when you started to cast the spell

yea i dont know about spell stacking things but it would be nice if it was swapped around so that:

SB stacks with Legacy of the Dragonkin
-buffs provide attack and overhaste
-right not SB overwrites legacy of the dragonkin

Boon does NOT stack with Legacy of the Dragonkin
-both provide overhaste but values do not stack
-right now buffs stack


Its not strictly useless to SB a melee class who is using custo sword, but you are limiting their potential by doing so
