I run a Bard / Magician combo and it works good no doubt, but I've noticed the Bard usefullness drops off a bit. You can only AE mez until lvl 30, and out of combat mana + health regen is somewhat moot. I do love the bard speed and invis though (too bad it makes your pet poof ><).
