Enc/Clr or War/Clr DC advice

I currently have a 16 war, 16 cleric duo that i've been leveling up. It works great in groups, and does real well solo, but it is slowing down as I level along. My question is, would a enc/clr be better combo? The advantages of Enc is that he can charm and usually a charmed pet is stronger than a warrior at the same level, but would charming just get me killed constantly pre-DC? Any tips, or advice on which combo would be better lemme know.

enchanter/cleric

Hello DragoonX,

I've got a lvl 46 cleric/enchanter combo that I 2box and it's working out great. It's easy to find groups as all you need to do is find some tanks and maybe some spot healing. I find that 2boxing 2 casters is significantly easier than doing melee's since you don't have to fumble around staying in melee range. Just stand and cast and sit back down.

I didn't find charm to be all that useful until my 30s. The mana cost invovled with keeping the mob you're fighting rooted just eats up your mana at the low levels. I root maybe 2-3 times a fight-about 60-90 mana just in rooting. When your meditation is so low I just find it difficult to keep my mana up.

You won't be eaten up by your charmed pet if you've got a cleric behind you to back you up. When the break occurs, use your color stun, launch off a heal on the cleric. Then, on the enchanter, run away from your previously charmed pet while you're recovering from casting the stun. Then mez, tell your cleric to sit if you don't have that setup in a macro, and re tash and charm.

Always keep what you're fighting rooted and charm breaks shouldn't be bad. Every so often, charm and root will break on the same tick but thats why you have your cleric to rez you.

Now that I've got my scaled wolf illusion(free sow), I feel like I don't even need the cleric. If I get into a dicey situation I can just run away, then root or mez and recharm.

If you're really into charm soloing you might want to consider druid/enchanter. Level the enchanter and druid to 29 then just stop leveling the druid. Druid can sow, heal 300 damage, non damage snare for 6 minutes. All you want really. Even some minor hp buffs.

The way I see it, finding groups with a warrior + cleric is easier. At lower levels, 50-, there isn't really any class needed except for a tank and healer, so in theory you can just throw in anyone within your range and start killing.

As the universally hated DCer around here, I'd have to say that War/Cleric really is an awesome duo. You should probably have gone SK/Cleric since you don't have access to top end gear, but yeah.

He means War/Cleric only reaches its full potential when you have a warrior that can honestly live up to the description of a "tank"....

Level 65
50+ aa's
6,500+ hp
Couple of 20 delay 10+dmg weapons
a good high % haste item.

...and a good cleric with 4,000+ mana, a conserve mana 3 item, a few flowing thought items (or permenant kei), and a enough aa's to buy a few spell casting mastery aa's.

Otherwise a shaman whoops a cleric when paired with a warrior any day of the week. Hell I even prefer a high level shaman with all his spells vs a CH bitch at high levels.

Pretty much.

But when you finally get there, you can dominate. :D

(don't go war/cleric)

Alright so i have another question or two.... basically i've decided that it would be better to go shm/war, but even I seem to suffer from lack of pulling ability. Upon surfing around various shaman forums it seems that the most popular 2-box for shaman on the live servers is SK/SHM or MAGE/SHM or Necro/SHM. The reason for the SK shaman is that the DPS is supposed to be higher than a War, and the versatility is there as well as ways to acquire massive amounts of hate which will counteract the shamans slows. What i'm wondering is how do Mag, Nec's and SK's fair on the ruleset and equipment set that Winters Roar has. The advantages on live for the mag and nec is they can have the pet pull, and the pets do rediculous amounts of DPS as well as root and stuff like that associated with the mage earth pet. Any suggestions? I kinda like playing a tank class, never really played one up, so I might do the SK/SHM pair, but i'm not sure if maybe the power of nec or mag would be the way to go in the long run because I really do want a 2 box pair that can get me solid xp at the highest of levels.

Shaman SK is a really good combo since the SK can tank splitpull and the shaman can slumber buff and slow.

Shaman SK might be one of the best duoers in the game.
Equipment wise i think every class has about the same amount of good equipment

Biggest problem I have right now with my war/shm combo is that my war can't split pull mobs at all, and also I can't acquire enough hate to allow my shaman to slow the mob and then sit down and med. I've never played an SK, but would he be able to acquire the hate? With the mage pet, the pet will take care of rooting the mob constantly allowing the shaman to slow and such without too much of a problem.... hopefully. And mage pet would have higher DPS than an SK.

nothing is better in hate then a SK i think plus there Dps is not bad

a mage pet would not work since there root is very short so it would break very fast and pets agro suck.

Mages used to be awesome when pet aggro would compensate nukes/heals from the mage and heals from the cleric. It also rocked when pet holds aggro and the cleric beats on the mob with the awesome hammers they get at higher levels.

But all that is a thing of the past now...*sniffle*...

SK/shaman is prolly best.
