Elemental dmg on current weapons

Some weapons already have elemental damage on em, will they stay as they are or will they change, if so how ? Cus it means i have to get 2 new weapons for my ranger.

But for example :

Scarlet Blade of Searing
delay 22
dmg 5
fire dmg 13

will the the melee dmg still be 5+13 ? or is it like 5 dmg melee and plus 13 dmg to fire spells / procs? see my point ?

Let's talk about that maul, what is the problem really ? out the classes that can use it (WAR CLR PAL RNG SHD DRU MNK SHM BST according to wiki) I see RNG, BST & DRU mostly benefiting and to a lesser extent shamans. So they would do 99 more dmg on their nukes (and not proc if I followed everything ?) ; what's the problem ? meleeing with it might bring more dps than this (quite big though) spell damage increment. In advanced tiers if they decide to keep it,, its at the cost of stats, too. It also helps making 2Hs more appealing since it should be prioritarily these items that should have the big elemental bumps.

I was thinking something along these lines. I don't think it would be a problem considering how crappy the weapon is otherwise.

The old functionality of elemental damage has not been changed. Your weapon will still melee as it has.
