Oh yes the dead horse shall be beat moar!:psyduck:

im newer to SoD and im not sure if soloing a wizzy is a great idea and from the feeling i get from this board its not......

1.) Should i press on and do the grind with a solo Wizzy and just root nuke a mob down and med up after every fight?

2.) Should i go with my Shammy/monk combo or a different combo with wizzy?

All imput welcome (be it constructive)
thanks in advance

The shaman/monk can do vastly more since this game basically forces you to go into dungeons to accomplish anything.

If you can manage to find a group of friends to play with regularly, a wizard would be great.

If you want to duo with the wizard, I'd pick an enchanter. It will make the game very difficult, but also a lot of fun since your fights will have many more options than with a shaman monk.

Wizard solo is possible if you know what you do. But as Manguadi said, good gear comes from dungeons, an WIZ solo in a dungeon results in dead WIZ all too often.

This makes me a sad panda, so is it an option to solo into my early 20s and then dungeon?

Why play a "common" duo. There are thousands of "common" duos already in existance. Pick two classes you like, and play them. Who cares if you arent a power duo, go group. The XP is better and usually safer, as well, this is an MMO, so soloing your entire career is just silly.

I'm playing around with Druid/Paladin. Works well, but not quite as much crowd-control as I'd like. Can't seem to get my roots off fast enough, or they don't last long enough (or I target the friendly MOb standing next to me instead, and get pounded, like last night. /sigh).

Might level up a Monk, see how Druid/Monk works out.

With druid / paladin you can use harmony / lull to split a good deal of mobs. There will always be some that are just flat out too close together or have too large of an assist radius for that to work.

I play a druid / monk combo and love it, but if you enjoy the tankiness of your paladin you might look into SK / Druid. Monks will work great for a duo tank and we can do ok in a group situation, but our aggro is limited to how much dps we can crank out and how often our tiger claw special goes off. With very high dps group mates the aggro can get wonky at points with a monk tanking.

This game is best experienced with a full group, I wouldn't recommend two-boxing or soloing over playing in a group for any class or classes. If you are going to be grouping wizard is a perfectly good choice.

I've had decent success with a rogue/druid combo. I have to med a lot, and people always ask what the heck i'm doing but as mentioned earlier i didnt go for typical duo i went with the two classes i always liked. I enjoy grouping and love to just have fun with the game

Hm. Not to derail or anything ... I've tried Lull a few times with little success. Might be because there's a level difference between the Paladin and the Druid, so I'm trying to hit things that are above the Paladin's lull-ability? I just did a 3-MOb pull the other day and used the Druid to just continually root them. It wasn't too bad.

mmm well yes a shaman/monk is an amazing combo, I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE :D #1!!

But, at high end i find a lot of people prefer to not box and they end up stuck with 2 characters, 2 boxing is fun when youre by yourself, and leveling up but I would focus on one more than the other. If you're thinking about 2 boxing so that you can duo everything and get phat loots and shit.. well you wont... not for a while at least. And last i checked all the high end guilds are gone! So you got some gearing up to do. If you plan on the majority of your levelin up to be solo... then i would box 2 chars... but try to spend your funds on one char more than the other imo to plan for high end.

I agree. Choose a character that you want to play and focus on him. When you can find a group, get in. If there are no groups then you can duo (if the bot can keep close enough to your level). You get 2x the EXP per kill by soloing, but you probably won't be able to kill even half as fast as a group or botted duo.

Wizard/ Warrior.... do it. you know you're tempted
otherwise, Wiz/ Necro would be pretty cool. Lotta DPS, snare, root, pet for mini meat shield. No real healing capability other than necro taps, but shouldn't need it much. So yeah, just tossing out ideas.

imo

Solo: Druid is the best choice. Especially is you wanna solo AA's. Obviously you have healing power, and even with bleh gear, DS tanking is great. Thats not mentioning nukes, dots, roots etc. With limited gear you can prob only do 1-3 at most. But its good exp. Plat obviously isn't easy to come by soloing tho if you get resist high enough you should be able to solo warlord camp (mielechb). Once you can resist the enchanters stuff, warlord is DS tank ezpz. Even without that, all the other named are easy at 65.

Duo: Monk/Shaman. Once you get FD skill up, you can duo a good amount of areas if not all. Certain areas (HHK Basement, FR past the first wuss mobs) may be out of reach without decent gear but Velks, HHK 1st floor minus curator (fear sucks if you cant resist and hits a bit hard on crappy geared people) good places, even rust. This is also a good Plat combo, good amount of people have used this combo (Zhak, Lytec, Jinxat (tho he used mallas alot also)).

Hell im tempted to try Monk/Monk Duo, Insane DPS while still being able to tank decently. every time ive grouped my monk with another its turn out well, and if the "shit hits the fan" both of them have FD :) on the other hand, gear will be problematic, as youll need 2x of everything :p
