Duel Clienters and XP.. this is for you

ALT-TAB is disabled on Windows XP. This makes duel clienting on Windows XP a p.i.t.a... I am not very partial to eqwindows because i find alt-tab a must simplar solution than alt-shift-r and s to cycle through eq instances.

You will need to download and install

Application Compatibility Toolkit

Run the Compatability Administrator Tool and a nice window will come up. In the left frame you will see System Database, and right under System Database you'll see Applications. Click the + sign and it will list lots and lots of programs. Scroll down (in the left frame still) and find EverQuest and left click on it once. In the right frame it'll bring up some matching files and you should see at the very top Eqgame.exe. Right click on Eqgame.exe and click Disable Entry. Close the program and now you're able to Alt-Tab out of EQW whenever you want.

I hope this information is helpful. Just trying to contribute anyway i can to the community.

Good day, Rulas of Forgotten Heroes

or you could just run eqw2.35a since eq's native alt tabbing sucks

That's the way, uhuhuh, I like it! :) Much easier than doing all that mess for alt tab, with eq windows you can set up a single key to swtich windows ;)

I'd rather

/shrug i guess i'm a little more accustom to alt-tab and i was running into too many people running xp that were minimizing individual instances of eq then clicking on the other instances to maximize it which is a huge pain. So i thought i'd add my two cents. Do it how you want.

I've gotten so used to ctrl-alt-s for tabbing EQ that I've tried to do it out of game sometimes. I find it's nice to be able to just switch between EQ instances vs having to cycle through all my tabs (IMs, Firefox, etc.) But thanks for the tip Ralas. :)

Alt + tab is super lame, my computer often crash because of it, but force of habbit, so it's always good to know (there's also a post about it on the eqwindows forum).

Another big benefit to this (for me, at least) is that alt-tabbing allows you to switch applications even while zoning/loading--EQW won't ever let me ctrl-alt-s while zoning or loading, so it makes things require much more planning... have to enable autorun while approaching a zoneline to ensure that I'll be able to get both clients across in a reasonable amount of time. If the client in my active window crosses a zoneline, the only way I can possibly get out of that window is by ctrl-alt-deleting, which takes precious seconds that have killed me more than once... alt-tab solves that :)

Thanks for the help, Rulas!
