Dualboxing characters on the same account?

Is this possible? I was told that it was, but yesterday when I tried to log on two characters from the same account, the 2nd character was never allowed into the game.

If this isn't possible, is there a way I could ask a GM nicely to move one of my characters to a different account?

It's possible, but not recommended. You'll run into problems (like you saw) especially when entering the world and if both characters zone at the same time. If you kill and restart the client that wasn't allowed into the game, eventually you'd be able to get in. Same thing when zoning.

Your best bet is to get one of the characters moved to a separate account. It will save you lots of grief. When I did this, the recommended way was to ask if a GM was available for the transfer in the IRC channel.

I cannot for the life of me find the IRC information; the link on the main page doesn't work for either firefox or IE. Can someone help me out? Thanks.

For Firefox you can use Chatzilla. Just make sure that if you login to your computer as Administrator that you change the username in chatzilla before loggin in to SoD's channel (as it will default to Administrator - and that isn't wise :D ).

If you really want to use Firefox, there are extensions that allow you to use it for IRC. I tried one once, and uninstalled it within minutes. I use the open source client GAIM, which also handles most of the internet chat protocols (yahoo, msn, icq, etc...). Interface is kind of clunky and takes a bit to get used to, but I didn't like mIRC any better when I tried it (without registering it).

Edit: got it working, thanks all.
