I know this has been touched on a bit before in previous threads, but no real conclusion was ever gathered, I.E. fine as is, changes in the works, or whatever.

I think the root is fine, the hp/mana/sta regens are fine as is. The only thing I think needs a look, as its been said before, are the AEs breaking it.

If its entirely intended that the spell is broken by AE stuns and such, thats acceptable. There are certainly a LOT of encounters I can think of that Earth Mother would benefit a good deal (not game breaking or anything) but the AEs make it absolutely worthless.

It was suggested before, make it a 100% snare instead of a root, to keep it from breaking, I don't really see a problem with that.

As a side note, you could remove the stamina regen (since it is useless as a druid) with a 3/6/9 +all resist mod, but that might be OP. Really the only thing I'd like to see come of this, is this AA not being broken by AAs. If the Devs have their own reasons why it should stay this way, at least explain it to me so I don't think "why is this so useless 90% of the time", because I'll know why.
 
does kinda suck about stuff killing the form but hey thats the breaks.

How about EM making you 200 over weight. The fact you barely move with 200 over weight might be ok, if you can move at all.

It is NOT useless 90% of the time.

On raids, you don't run around constantly. You usually stay in the place for 20-30 mins pulling. Em form is useful for quicker meds. Some of the top tier raid mobs you can use it on and some events. Exping its completely useful. Medding, exping from one area (hhk royals).

i use EM a crap load while exping and when i raided alot i was in the form like half the raid. Air boss in UT i am always in EM same with lower water boss (only gettin knocked out of it when you get a nuke). Fireboss for half the fight. IP all the fights minus taeshlin but even then at the end i used it.

Just seems to me someone needs to learn a bit more about druids and how to use them on raids very efficiently.
 
I agree with you Mallas on most raiding situations, i might be slightly blinded by that we've been doing a lot of movement/aoe fights lately. Though I did use it well enough in Frost last night. And it is useful for pulling, but I'm more thinking of nameds in this manner of being useless. LT nameds its far more useful than UT named (not saying you cant use it, but the number is fewer), ToT its fairly soild now that I think about it, more you can use it on than not.

In most XP groups I do (rust, FR, most HK groups move from floor to floor fairly quickly, aggro can get out of hand sometimes from quick heals if a good round gets in during the pull, elds because theres usually no tanks in our Eld castle group, its a druid and wizards, so lots of rooting and moving). And my solo, well, thats largely the standard DS tanking which means lots of self heals, and root/move if i get interrupted a lot, so in most situations IM in, there is a lot of movement, making SotEM useless. Maybe my play style is just more dynamic than yours Mallas, or keeps me more on my toes for XP purposes.

Obviously my "90% useless" was a purposeful exaggeration, just seems like the fights you cant use it are the more obnoxious ones.
 
i dont know the strategy you follow in hhk for instance, but i am able to provide my group with big fast pulls and still allow me to use my druids EM effectively. after all its only a 3 minute time. so just root yourself in a spot, pull a floor, move. repeat. fr/fg are not as good for this until you get down deep though.
 
Yeah its 4 minutes, not 3, but no big difference there.

Maybe its just the tanks I've been with in HK *shrug* its good for first floor and second floor (if your pulling third floor down to gamblers, most people do) 4th floor is a bit harder to pull, so it tends to really push the timer there. I don't personally think I've tried to use it in HK because the rate everything is being pulled and such, I think i tend to get a feeling like im being rushed in the back of my head. Next time I'm there Ill be sure to pop it when its up, see how fast we move and such, if the timer or the root become a detriment.

But like I tried to say, the biggest thing to me is the breaking on AEs, not so much the xp group.

I guess it boils down to you can't have your cake and eat it too.

well you don't wanna be popping it on the way up to royals.. you won't sit for more than 2 mins at any spot even killing slow.

at royals is where its at.


tbh its not a huge group AA other than raids.. its more soloing imo. But its great nonetheless. When it used to never break made allot of fights trivial when they were kinda hard.
 
well im not saying that you have to use it ALL the time. the pattern i follow is pull first floor in 1 go. move up to 2nd root there. pull 2nd, unroot. move to 3rd and depending on mana root there. next root spot in royals hall. ya the rooting doesnt last long, but its a nice mana boost nontheless.
