Dropping to splash screens when logging in...

This may be an extreme 1017 error, but...

I can log in and get as far as the server selection screen. When I choose the server, it gets as far as the 'submitting to server' message and stops. It used to give me an error about not being able to connect to the server, consistently enough that I have never been able to play SoD.

Today, it went one better. It got to the 'submitting to server' message and then I got a screen with an Iksar in a forest, but no text. This can be there for a second or thirty seconds, but then I get a screen with a fiery portal followed by the main menu (i.e. with the login option) and I have to log back in before I get my 1017 error message.

What version? That is a difficult one to answer definitively.

I installed a boxed set back in 2003 which had EQ with SoV and RoK, then installed the Luclin add-on. From there, I got every add-on up to GoD when the UK servers went from Ubisoft to SOE and installed them all via the patcher (a slow business). Many years later, I played briefly on a 'welcome back' offer and patched everything up back then. I think it was two or three years back.

This installation sat for years, unused, until I ran the SoD patcher a couple of weeks back and tried to play. Sadly, having so many add-ons without discs means that reinstalling is not an option unless I resubscribe.

If you are patched up to god you should be fine. Your pathping doesn't show a lot. virgin is fine, but 4 Peer 1 routers are dropping icmp either by design or because of load. (icmp is low priority) Because they are dropping all icmp we can't tell if they are also dropping data.

These tools might help to further determine if its a connection issue;
