Double window problem

Everytime I try to log into the server, a second EQW window pops. If I close the 2nd one it closes both. If I leave it up, the game visuals are on the 2nd one but I cannot play with that window, I must have the first one up and running in order to play the game. I would not have problem playing like this but this causes a slowdown on my puter. Any ideas what might be wrong?
