DoT "Weakening effect"

Wiz

NOT DONATING *EVER*
This is a new factor we're adding to the game. Essentially, weakening effect works by adding up all the damage done to a mob by DoTs in a single tick. For the remainder of that tick, the mob directly deals less damage in melee based on how much DoT damage it is taking in proportion to its HP.

This effect is intended to add a bit more viability for DoTs in the raid game, as even a percent or two of reduction is a lot on a top end raid mob, but it will also be beneficial in the EXP game and on lower levels, especially since DoTs can shave off quite a few percent of a mob's HP every tick.

The max impact of DoTs are 10% direct melee damage reduction.

I will not post the formula here. Otherwise, feel free to discuss this change.

I fully support this idea, I think it really helps the dotters get back in the game both raid and group wise and solo wise :)

big thumbs up for this one

This sounds awesome to me, makes the Necromancer a more friendly raid/group type character. And boy, now I want to level my Shaman, lol. Shoot, Shamans already weaken a mob incredibly with slows and debuffs and now their DoTs add to this, look out...this makes them extremely powerful and beneficial to a group. Well, they already were, but now even more so :p

This reduces the damage per hit?

Is there any way to determine how large of an impact DoTs are having?

Well, I assumed that this included Cleric dots, but I have learned to ask and not just assume here on SOD.

I thought enchanters DoT's line was supposed to be based around the idea of a crippling DoT (chokehold etc.), is there any chance we could see that being given an innate bonus to this since our damage is pretty petty.

Eh, it already has debuffs.

FUCK.

I just started god damned DD'ing on my shaman (because we now kill the mobs far too quickly for even a four tick DoT) in experience groups and now this comes in? Good thing my bonus is gone I guess.

Honestly, no complaints at all and I love the change.

Keep up the good work.

my question.
Will characters casting the same spell DoT stack? To my understanding these are not working at this time.

If no. Is it a bug or not?

Will there be widespread diffibulators(sp?) available to jolt necromancers back to life for having more of a raid role other than Mana_battery_01?

Seriously tho. Nice to see a new implementation!

Yay!

This is great, now I just have to convice people that 10% reduction in the mob's DPS is worthwhile, instead of inviting a wizard, magician, rogue, or monk instead of me. :)

Umm, I don't see how this really changes groups at all.

If you play your class well, people WILL invite you.

Not to mention you can start your own groups and people will always jump aboard.

I used to rant and rave in OOC about how noone ever starts groups even though 10 people are OOCing they're LFG every five minutes.

I still do that.

Dont get me wrong, I get groups most of the time. It's just that a wizard, mage, rogue, and or monk can be a lot more usefull DPS wise than a necro or shaman, simply because DDs/Melee > DoT damage unless the mob lasts for the entire duration. :)

Not a complaint, just an obvservation! Do not burn me at the stake! I repeat, DO NOT BURN THE NECRO!
