Donation Suggestion - Perks for Consistency

What if SoD also gave players some perks/rewards for how long they have been donating?

I'm just thinking... maybe offer a reward for consistently donating at 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and every year after that. The value of the reward would be based on whether they're a PLATINUM, GOLD, or SILVER member...

SILVER member (3 months): Low Quality-Small Sized reward
GOLD member (3 months): Medium Quality-Small Sized reward
PLATINUM member (3 months): High Quality-Small Sized reward

SILVER (6 months): Low Quality-Medium Sized reward
GOLD (6 months): Medium Quality-Medium Sized reward
PLATINUM (6 months): High Quality-Medium Sized reward

SILVER (1 year): Low Quality-Large Sized reward
GOLD (1 year): Medium Quality-Large Sized reward
PLATINUM (1 year): High Quality-Large Sized reward

*every year after that would be similar to the 1-year reward
*maybe offer a SPECIAL prize for donating 5 years

I'm just thinking of those people that have been donating for years (if there are any)... they're only getting the same perks as someone that has started donating, right?
Plus, this would give incentive for players to donate more consistently over a long-period of time.

PS - I would seriously consider to start donating if this were implemented!

Just a thought... okay, I'm ready for the bashing. :p

Players already see a benefit from continuing to donate over a period of time, they get to continue to use and enjoy the current rewards. Outside of that, you may wish to actually flesh out your 'suggestion' and detail what the rewards should be instead of leaving all the work to somebody else even if they wished to implement such a system. Otherwise, you have less of a suggestion and more of an incomplete random thought.

The crack about you considering to donate if such a system was implemented, kinda makes me want to slap you with a hammer. Donate or not, its your choice...but saying you will potentially donate if poorly thought out idea19371 is implemented is beyond lame. It's sadder and marginally more retarded then linking to anything Chuck Norris related and thinking it's somehow funny.

Must you respond with flaming to a simple suggestion... and that's exactly what it is... a SIMPLE suggestion. I admit it's not very detailed, but then I don't know all the little details of the game either. The way I see it, this forum is a great way for a group of people to collaborate together to come up with a decent suggestion... but somebody has to start with something simple. If you don't think the suggestion will work, simply say so without flaming the other person and give your reasons why... which you did very well in your first paragraph. That 2nd paragraph was completely unnecessary.

Back to my suggestion... now that I think about it, 3 months or even 6 months seems a bit too soon. But I think people that have been donating over a year or 5 years should definitely be recognized and rewarded (even if it's something small - like a clickie that summons a totally useless pet, just for looks).

blah blah

I was not flaming the suggestion, I was flaming the rather selfish and generally shitty attitude of...ADD THIS FOR ME AND MAYBE...JUST MAYBE I'LL DONATE. I thought that was pretty clear. In case you forgot, your exact words were...

PS - asking to be 'bashed' then complaining when it happens makes my head hurt.

You're right... I'm sorry.
After a lot of thought, I've decided to go ahead and start donating anyway... as soon as I can afford it. :p

Anyway, back to my suggestion (which is what this whole forum is about)... are there any other thought?

I have thought about this a bit since it was mentioned in that other thread. I like the idea of there being some more donator goodies, but I'm not sure if this is a great way to do it, for logistical and other reasons.

I think a better thing to do would be to commemorate special events with goodie bags for donators who log on during the holiday/event/whatever. This system still rewards you for a lengthier time donating by providing you with stuff over the length of your donation period.

An example I just made up follows:
Upon Ikisth's release,
All players get some gnomish fireworks
Silver donators get a "smoked kaezulian nuggets" stack of stat food.
Gold donators get an item with 10 charges of illusion: iksar
Platinum donators get a mask with worn:illusion iksar

Such "goodie bag days" should be rare, and the items should not be more powerful than the current donator rewards.

In the end, it's important to strike a balance between the fact that donators do deserve a little something extra, but that the donator rewards should never be the motivation for donating, and there shouldn't be a gap between donating and non-donating players in terms of game efficacy (This is a terrible term that I just made up.).

I like that idea! I completely understand that donators shouldn't become more powerful than the other players... but having something extra, something fun - would make donating a more enjoyable experience. :)
