Disease spreading cooldown

It looks like the disease cooldown once put in place to limit the massive spreading of contagious diseases has been lost. I was afk in the athica bank (horrors), and came back to this log:

[Mon Jan 14 20:58:22 2008] You have contracted Wetlung from Arhagn.
[Mon Jan 14 21:01:25 2008] You spread Wetlung to Pnut.
[Mon Jan 14 21:03:29 2008] You spread Wetlung to Etii.
[Mon Jan 14 21:03:39 2008] You spread Wetlung to Daxamere.

Could the cooldown be put back in place so cities aren't such a horrible place to be again, and disease griefers aren't so easily able to grief?

Wasn't it intended to be a cooldown "by toon" you can spread it to ? Like you can'ttry to infect X before for example 10mn, but before that you could infect Y and Z .
Otherwise I'd rather live with that, which has to be annoying somehow, than with Dark Rot *shivers*

What's the point?

So at under level 50 you potentially have to deal with Wetlung, Portal Contagion, and Rotting Plague. Rotting Plague...fine I can dig it. It's part of the story. But the other two shouldn't be contagious or at least should be much shorter duration. This isn't even taking into account the Rust DoT. Why so many super long duration diseases in the game?

At the very least could the diseases cause an emote that is vissible to everyone in the player's vicinity to trigger every 20-30 seconds or something?

Player001 is infected
Player002 is not

"Player001 begins to cough/sneeze/hack up a lung"

So then Player002 can be like "man that guy looks ill...I better steer clear of him"

I realize you can con everyone you see to see if they are infected, but man when there's a bunch of people around at the bank and others coming and going it's insane. At least with an emote, those of us who can cure diseases can know who to hit with it right off.

although the kukov is coughing up his loungue would be a nice idea... I think this would cause huuuuuge lag so please no!

Not any more I'd imagine than the food and water emotes.

Exactly. At any given time there are more people using food and drink on the server than there are people who are diseased. It's not as though it needs to process anything. It would just work like any spell message would really.

Yes, but we don't consume food "every 20-30 seconds". If the messages occur as often as the food and drink messages, they'll be nearly useless. If they occur every 20-30 seconds, I think it will be way too much spam. If there are 10 people infected near the bank with a single disease (or 5 people with 2, etc..) which is quite common, that's a message every 2-3 seconds.

But back to the original point of this thread, can diseases be made somewhat less communicable again?

And with the spam people might be more inclined to heal someone in their vicinity. ;) I think your idea is pretty worse-case-scenario, but it's plausible. But I think it would be fairly isolated occurrences.

I'm all for less communicable, but in lieu of that more noticeable would be great. I play a cleric, shaman, and druid...more than willing to help rid people of it if I can notice it. :)
