Deity Choice

Hello,
Where do I look to research the different deity choices? Not in the way they affect me but how many people raid what and who goes where. Which are popular choices which are more neutral choices etc etc?

Any and all information will be helpful so lay your opinions and ideas here...

If you are a bard or rogue, pick a chaotic deity, such as enthann.

Do NOT pick a god who has a higher tier zone. If you decide to raid later, you will regret it, as the augment power is not even close to what you give up. Primarily this applies to Tarhyl, and not so much to shojar, as the rewards for the shojar quest are not irreplaceable like the tarhyl ones. The tank ring is really good, the rest you aren't missing much.

Pick something simple. You will not want to be worrying about your spec bonus while questing later, the choices are not obvious most of the time. Extremes of alignment are the best for this. Also lawful, evil, and good are generally hilariously easy, since you get a buttload of alignment points from the faction parts of the main quest. Avoid neutral deities. It's not the kiss of death, but can become a huge pain in the ass as there is no way of measuring which side of neutral you're tending towards at the moment. Since there are only repeatable alignment quests for bards and rogues, this can lead to you getting screwed out of a few spec points, and it's better to generally avoid that if possible.

Overall you're best going with a mid tier deity, as their planes are entirely skippable.
 
Thanks for the info there. I appreciate it. Now based on your alignment statement then Althuna wins since she is both Lawful and good but what about moving up to neutral good Jayla?
I only see one deity and that is Althuna that is both of those alignments and not chaotic or neutral so which side is which exactly with alignment points?
As a wizard feeling pulled towards Jayla actually cept the painful mind games riddle I am still staring at for days heh

Hats your feeling on Jayla?
 
Jayla has a good aug !

EDIT : and doesn't affect your raiding. the most important part.

Jayla is a bad choice cause her aug is terrible compared to about any other aug. Go for Althuna if you are lawful good. If you want to change your alignment from lawful good to something else, I'd recommend either sihala (lawful neutral) or marlow (lawful evil), both have good augs as well, and I personally enjoyed marlow aug quest very much.

Yes but I think you're misunderstanding a bit. Those 3 extremes are easy because of faction. If you go lawful=>silver crown, if you go evil=> blackscale, good=>council. You only get one of them, so lawful evil for example would be just as good as lawful good.

All neutral deities have similar problems. Jayla aug is terrible, as nwaij mentioned.

Also important to mention that some deities do not have any augs so if you are looking at this from a '' min-max '' point of view, this should be kept in mind.
 
Jayla isn't a terrible choice. Its easy as hell to get 20% spec if you go CoI and you get to kill everything.
