Death Zoning

Hi, Just wondering if it would be possible with our client to stop instant zone-to-bind on death. My idea would be to have it instead give you the 'corpse' animation, remove all buffs(obv not SB), give you Death fatigue BUT have it modified to instead be a perma STUN, drain all HP/mana/end same old same old. Then you imediately see a Death msg with some craftier version of: 'You have died, to let your spirit return to the mortal plane type /cm return'

That would trigger you to zone back to bind, lose the stun death fatigue, and gain normal Death fatigue.

I see this as a convenience and enjoyment factor in groups and on raids. If you die, there is a good chance that the rest of your group or raid will live, and this lets you continue to hear and to a lesser degree 'see' what is going on. If it would be too exploitable to have people able to speak, the first death fatigue could also be a silence. Then, assuming your group or raid lives, you can be rezed and the whole process would have unfolded without you having to zone. Nifty idea? You tell me :monocle:

actually i like this idea they also have it in the other game atm it might be fairly hard to do i don't know. but being able to speak after you die is already accomplished via ventrilo which i know a number of people already use.

This would nullify the issue of rez bugs also.

Not a stamp of approval. Need to think on it.

I like the idea, not that my opinion has significant clout. I just know that especially when playing my tank I wonder what happens to the group if and when I die. Especially in situations where ventrilo isn't available for the whole group (such as when a group of random people join up to xp or something).

how so? you mean like /q ing while dead near a target mob? thats easy to fix by making you zone-to-bind on a logout. otherwise i'm missing your logic :dumb:

when me and my friends left The Game to play Dark Ages, we found it to be really a great thing to have. nothing funnier than to get wiped and then be able to chat/laugh about it as you watch the last person in the group die.

many people use vent/ts so maybe just limit you to non-public channels and lock the cam looking down a short distance above your body.

It would be better than bind sight on a corpse in live

I still don't get exactly how you would exploit this? Like divine aura and run really fast to a named and die there and watch it? What am i missing

Iaeo obvi missed the part about it having a perma stun. Bards run their mouth so much sometimes they forget to read;)

I think they had this in Magestorm. Great idea.

You would still be on the /who in the zone, right? I don't think you could get away with spying. Also, wouldn't you have to keep a character logged in as a corpse to effectively scout this way?

Blind should still be included though, as when the last person in a group/raid dies, no one should be able to see what's going on anymore.

I kind of had a similar idea on the vsoh boards a long time ago, where instead of players instantly dying and zoning, when reaching 0 hp they would become unconscious and drop to the bottom of the mobs hate list with but recover no hp, with a choice to die or wait to be ressuscitated. If all characters on a mobs hate list were flagged as unconscious, the mob would execute them all.

Because perma stun stops you from watching an encounter or see when a mob spawns :psyduck:

Then set it so that you can only stay like that for so long. Maybe 5 minutes max. At which point your spirit naturally separates from your body.

Not a bad idea but I'd say it would have to be a bit longer than that.

20 minutes would be good. Exploiters would be wasting more effort than info gained.

If you make it perma mez/fear instead of stun, it stops you from being able to switch views, but that would be kinda gay.

Howbout people just don't exploit something for once, so cool shit can be added ;)
