Daytime Vs. Nighttime - What's the Difference? Help Me Out

Through reading the forums, I've seen a few references to daytime or nighttime, as if certain things work differently.

Aside from doors being locked or unlocked, different NPC's/mobs being around, and the relative lightness or darkness, what ELSE is different?

I've heard necro spells work better at night, but I don't have any specific details.

I had read that before... before I even started playing, and thought it was cool, but didn't understand half of what was being said. Now that I've played a little and learned a bit, I can see exactly how awesome those changes are to the game... so cool.
