Crystal Caverns and Fear issues

So, first time into the crystal caverns last night to check it out. Overall the zone layout and mobs were very well done. The one thing that I found to be horrid in there were the fearing dracoknights. I went through the wall FOUR times in one evening with the fears. I either went through the world and popped out at the SS or I went completely through the wall and ended up in a different room, which in either case created an enormous train(btw I didn't know the 2nd was even possible!). I don't mind making mobs challenging, but when an ability causes frequent wall bugs it may be worth a 2nd look at.

I have tried to avoid zones with fearing mobs, but I went to HHK this weekend and was feared through walls as well. Is this supposed to happen? It pretty much means your groups wipes to a single fear. Pretty powerful effect if that is the case. Fear should be used as a means for a PC or an NPC to make a single foe, or multiple foes be out of combat for the duration of the spell. It should not be used to make its friends kill the foe instead.

The wall bug is irritating, but I think fear in general needs to be re-evaluated. It is just too buggy.
 
How bout freeze them in place rather than wheel them around the zone? Might be an easy fix? dunno whats the easiest way with code.
 
Yeah. What they said. Being feared into a pack of 20 angry dorfs that used to be on the other side of a 10-foot-thick wall is bad.
 
Fear should act as a long stun until the pathing code is revamped. To me, it seems like an easy alternative, and will open up more options of zones to fight in because of the whole not wanting to be feared and wiping thing.
 
It was working at a Mez of sorts until they put it back into game as a normal fear.

I personaly like many other hate the new fear. Its so buggy in most zones, like said 1 feared toon= Group wipe in zones like HHK.

/signed Revert back to Mez Style until wall issue is fixed.

I'm laughing because that's what fear used to do until everyone and their mother whined about it being implemented, making it into the fun effect it is now.

I think the people whining were necros who found it too hard to solo without it...

It was much better before. It pretty much sucks now. It's not balanced at all. Because PC's can't use it indoors without it wiping their group...NPC's can use it and exploit the buggy pathing and get twice as many kills out of a single cast. Great.

Even if pathing is fixed it's a ridiculously overpowered spell to have NPC's cast in a dungeon.
 
maybe if so many people didnt complain and bitch about fear not being implemented, it wouldnt suck so much.

Seriously? People were complaining they can't solo without fear? I honestly thought it didn't work for the most part so I never have used it. Wow. Who knew I was soloing the hard way? :hmph:
 
I coded some improvements that compensate for the way the client behaves during fear, and have been testing them in CC for several hours without going through a single wall or leaping up any ledges. Should have this in soon.
 
Will this fix also take care of Undercaverns, getting feared and running through a wall and falling below world?

Had that happen quite a lot, char would be out of range of heals (Blissful Remedy) and also be oor of summoning corpse once mobs got finished killing them underworld?

i find the new fear spell funny... to look at anyways, of course all the walking thru wall and falling behind world is not really fun but im looking forwad to Wiz improvement...

Didn't help HHK. Just got feared and dropped from the 3rd floor to the 1st. :(

Yeah, don't get feared in HHK unless you're in the casino =P First, second and third floors are pretty much interchangeable there.
