Cryogenic and Kinetic Focusation

These are the two monk stances gained at level 10. The proc damage scales with level, but post 65 there is a point where these make a much smaller improvement than even aggressive stance does. The proc rate is independent of weapon delay, which is supposed to make it equally effective whether using 1h or 2h weapons. For comparison, weapon procs are tuned specifically to the item, and so are balanced for each item.

Because the damage scales with level, it seems this stance is not supposed to be obsoleted by higher levels, and so it might make sense to change the proc damage to consider weapon ratio instead of level. This way, it will continue to be useful no matter the quality of your items, and the stance will continue to be used regardless of how good gear becomes.

I too would like to see these two stances actually put to use.

They were hardly if ever used when leveling up and are never under any circumstance used at level 65.

I don't know how I would remedy this but I am definitely showing support for this suggestion.

Amen! I used those stances a few times during the teens but I never used them after.

My name is Cilulizi, and I approve this OP.

I like the stance because stamina drain is essentially 0 with druid regen. It would be good for aggro, and decent for tanking when you're not taking serious damage. It just doesn't really provide any dps increase to justify usage as it is.

This sounds really complicated, at least considering that scaling by level is an inherent part of the spell code and scale-by-weapon-delay would require its own special bit of code and calculations. If it is doable, it would be going to the end of an increasingly lengthy "wouldn't it be nice if..." Code changes list.

The formula would be damage/delay * x, where x is some constant divided by 65/level.

Let's say the constant is decided to be something like 300.

This means that a spiked obsidian greatstaff, ratio: 1.649 would do

76 damage at level 10
266 at level 35
495 damage at level 65

A mithril mace, ratio: .417 would do

13 damage at level 10
67 damage at level 35
125 damage at level 65

Honestly, all it would change is multiplying the existing formula by damage/delay. Or, if it weren't a formula but instead a table, then the formula above is complete except for what an appropriate constant is.

Things like elemental damage on both gloves and weapons would complicate scaling it to ratio quite a bit, I think.

You know I realized that these are both spells, which makes it essentially impossible to have the damage scale with anything but level. But, you could potentially increase the proc rate with the weapon ratio.

So yeah, I misunderstood your response Zaela. Maybe this one makes more sense.

I don't think something scaling means it should be useful at all times. That said, scaling with weapon ratio in addition to your level is an interesting idea.

Yeah, right now they're spells, so the client plays a huge part in the damage you can do with them based on your level.

It's really just a question of whether or not this stance should retain its usefulness, assuming it had any in the first place. I'm not sure it has ever really added much in the way of dps, and it seems like it would be great for aggro while tanking.
