Crossover Mac Anyone?

I found an old post "SoD on Mac" http://forum.shardsofdalaya.com/index.php?topic=13725.0, but am starting a new due to it's age. I had a question about the last reply, it was made by Grehyton

I have this running on osx using crossover, it was quite easy....just install crossover, create a bottle, copy your the Company directory over to the drive_c folder under program files. Then in the bottle use the 'run' command on the top and point it to eqgame add the patchme to the end and then click run, it loads fine, plays pretty good.

I was able to get all the way to Char Creation on the SOD server through VMWare Fusion on my 1.83 Mac Mini but had a lot of problems. I assume these were due to dividing resources up between Win XP and OSX. I've now got a copy of crossover at the advice of Grehyton's post even though crossover's web site lists .NET as "known to not work"

I've got a bottle, and the drive_c folder has the program files copied from my working version of SoD from my XP trials. I've got the run command and I can point it to eqgame, which of course tells me to run evahquest.exe, or I can point run to sodpatcher.exe which fails due to not having .NET (I tried, it wont install in crossover)

What I don't understand is where Grehyton says add the patchme to the end and click run. I can run one or the other, I need to know how to add the patch to the end of eqgame.exe

You have to manually patch since your running SoD on crossover. You add -patchme at the end of the run command because otherwise it will try to run the patcher, either the one from game or the one from SoD.

Thats so simple it went right over my head. I never thought to just type out the actual word patchme, I thought I needed some complicated command.

So to recap for anyone else who wants to use crossover. Use the run command, browse to the eqgame.exe file and open, but wait. Scroll to the end of that path, out of the quotation mark, just type patchme. It should look like this /path/eqgame.exe" patchme

Hit Run

It went right into SoD, I'll finally see you guys in game :keke:
