Crazy aggro question

I thought about posting this on the taunt thread but it may have been a hyjacking of sorts so I made a new one.
Whats up with mobs jumping anyone and everyone else besides the puller? When I pull something with my warrior back to where my wife is standing the mob ALWAYS leaves me as soon as she gets in range and I have to taunt and whack like crazy to get its attention. Is that a feature of SoD or a glitch of some kind? I thought perhaps it was because she is in my group and is a healer but then once I pulled something as someone else ran by and the mob latched onto them. Is it because I am just not generating enough hate initially? I notice this happens even if I damage the monster on the pull vs just having them jump me because I am KoS.
 
Mobs not engaged by melee strikes (ie you haven't hit them yet) will jump targets, especially to healers. Just hit the mob once or twice while pulling and it shouldn't jump around.
 
Gotcha, the ones I damaged on the pulls was with a bow. I am guessing that would count as ranged damage not melee in this case? Doesnt that make pulling large bosses or in raids difficult since a lot of times the puller is someone who doesnt want to get close enough to actually get hit by the mod. :)
 
You will get different items that allow you to generate some aggro while the mob is still away from you and just inc. No need to hit them with melee in that case because you can just click something and generate "x" hate.
 
Most mobs need to be at least hit with a melee attack so they are locked down, otherwise they will jump around, even if they have been debuffed or an agro spell has been cast.
 
Gotcha thanks for info. I'll just have to remember to hit them once or twice before running back. :)

Yeah that.
With a great preference to sitting people, or the healer if he healed you during the pull.
