Crashing hard every time I die

Every time I die, I crash to the point where I have to ctrl-alt-del. But I can't even see the box, I can only pray that it actually shows up, alt tab, and press "e" twice in hopes of shutting down SoD. It usually works after 5 minutes of frustration.

I don't crash like this when I zone, it's not even a normal way to crash. I figure there's probably some problem with SoD and EQ's soul binding system (/cm bind). I also have an unusual bug with my helmet appearing solid black, and I wonder if this might be due to the velious helm graphics thing.

Also, it says I have 6 expansions enabled, that's all SoD uses, right? Don't know if that will help with the troubleshooting.

Thanks in advance for any help, really enjoying the game, and this isn't exactly going to keep me away, but it will be hard to explain to future groups.
 
Try a reinstall. Maybe there's a file that is invoked when you die that is corrupted.

Or perhaps your helm problem and your crashing are related. Perhaps it's a video card problem. Check to make sure your card is compatible with THE GAME and that you have the latest drivers.
 
Ok, thanks. I'll try those next time I'm frustrated enough to go through the effort. IE, the next time I die.
