Crash after login

Trying to help a friend get onto SoD all is well till he tries to log onto his account.
He gets to the server select screen clicks log in then gets a message "this program has encountered an error and will close" sorry for the inconvenience unsaved data will be lost.

I had him repatch a few times. even patch to live then re SoD patch.

If you crash out after Server Select or Char Select and you check your dbg.txt file in your EQ-SoD install directory and you see the following line:

"ERROR: Unexpected message: 5e " ((( Wasn't getting that message)))

Here are known work arounds to fix the problem:

1. Locate your EQW folder under your EQ-SoD install folder.
-> a. Delete the file eqw.ini (configuration file)
-> b. Patch And Run, should be good to go.

2. Locate your EQCLIENT.INI file in your EQ-Sod install folder.
-> a. Delete your eqclient.ini file (configuration file)
-> b. Patch And Run, should be good to go.

3. Reboot BOTH your Cable/DSL Modem as well as your Switch/Firewall.



Tried that fix still no good any one got any ideas or sugestions

.... copy your EQ folder onto a portable harddrive (since yours works), plug into his computer and see if it works.

If it works... delete his files and replace with yours.

If it doesn't... Umm back to the drawing board
