couple questions...

Dalayan Beginner
so, I have looked through these forums multiple times, just to get some basic questions answered, and I haven't found any answers at all. so well start with the basic question. What is Shards of Dalaya? Just an EQ server? what are the basics of it? and the next and last question is: How do i go about connecting to the server? (more elaborate than the homepage please).
Thanks alot.

Shards of Dalaya is a highly customized server.

As for connecting, follow these simple steps:

Install and patch to live.
Download these http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/patcher/Files.zip
Extract them to your game directory (make sure they overwrite other files)
Create a shortcut to eqgame.exe on your desktop
>Right click the new shortcut and go to properties
->Under properties there is a text box titled "Target"
->Add a space and then the word "patchme" to the end (outside of the quotations) so that it reads ["gamedirectory\eqgame.exe" patchme]
Make sure you have created an account at http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/register.html

Run eqgame.exe from the newly created shortcut
Log in with the new account information

And you should be good to go :)

I just signed up for an account, and tried to log in with it, but it won't work, I've done everything you said to do also. :( thanks for the help.

After clicking your shortcut, did you go straight to the game?
If no, you didn't create the shortcut right.

Also, check eqhost.txt in your Everquest directory.
If it reads something like
[Registration Servers]
{
"209.172.32.20:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"209.172.32.20:5997"
}

Then I'm not sure what the problem is - Otherwise, the file was not overwritten and you should try to re-patch to SoD.

Is that what is exactly supposed to be written in there, because I had to change to say that, it was nothing like that. So that was probably the problem, but now I get an error when I connect saying that a Timeout occured...

a new eqhost.txt is included in the zip file. All you have to do was unzip it, make a shortcut to exgame.exe and modify it, and then run it using the new shortcut, not the origional icon you used to launch that other game.
