It could be said the original poster brought it up because it was of benefit to him.
I am just saying holy weapons always end up being swords and chances are if they implement some sort of holy weapon quest they're only going to do one. I decided to use blunt weapons for roleplay and stylistic reasons prior to even having a clue about the specialization ramifications and I don't really want to switch to some cliche glowing sword now( I know, "then don't do the quest" genius).
I know you can't make everyone happy but perhaps a quest following the life of a paladin weapon master could be made that involves gaining appropriate skill and gathering his lost weapons? It could work on a tiered system governed by the simplicity of the combat style associated with a weapon and could span levels and levels. Put requirements in like a certain level of skill with said weapon to progress to the nest. Give the option to trade in the current redeemed weapon to progress on to your chosen flavour. Who knows, maybe that's too lame.
