Lynne
Dalayan Beginner
Hey, Dalaya. How have you been? I've thought about you every once in a while since my break-turned-departure. We've had some memorable times, huh? Something about 1000 hours, day and night just us together. When I took my leave, I had certain external forces that took most of my free time away, and after a couple months of not logging into you, I guess it became habit to not worry about this side of the world. After much struggle to get my life back (yet it is still not completely mine again), I have a couple hours in the day where I can mayhap pop in and see how things have changed. Although my situation is not exactly the same anymore, the only internet access I have now is at the local free Wi Fi. So a few hours at most a day would be my play schedule.
My question to the community is how have things changed for the better that I might seriously consider to relog my Lynne?
I want to be a casual player, to nonchalantly log on and enjoy Dalaya whenever I have spare free time, as I am not in the position anymore to set time away for Dalaya. But thinking about coming back and where I last left off, I can't see anything but treadmill and time sink. The last time I logged in, the sum of my time online was treadmill, grinding, farming, not raiding for 8 hours/day, not exp grouping. I am not interested in coming back to that. Has there been anything newly implemented since my leave that I can really bite into and savor? Need to feed this craving for some freeQ.
When I left Dalaya:
- Ikisith had not been released.
- I had broken 250AA (although I only consider this to be an average amount), have not started on any tomes (there weren't any ones for Enchanters, though I wanted inc dmg). Due to some guild tagging my gear leaped in progression yet ridiculously spotty, I did not start on my Vah Quest. I didn't finish any trade skills. I have one Relic and Archaic remaining. I am not sworn to any Deity, so my alignment is not maxed. I don't have my Dragon/Giant Aug. I have an embarrassing charm. I do have my MQ Aug, my faction Aug,... and that is it. I can't remember anything else I have actually completed in full at the time of my break.
- I was questing my ornate dragon clicky shirt/pants, can't remember if I had all the pieces to immediately upgrade them to combine. I was soloing Rod of Living Fire. I was working on all the gate necks. And the usual farming and skill maxing.
- I joined <GUILD>, as their enchanter had taken an indefinite leave, so I jumped at the opportunity to advance progression. In the months before my leave, their main had returned and I was phased out. I knew it was to happen sooner or later, as I did not overtake their original main during my time in the guild. Consequently, I don't think I have a guild to come back to.
- I was kind of sour about my near-end-game enchanter experience. 1-64 was a delightful experience. Reaching the first ceiling foreshadowed a kind of game play that I dislike. I wish I could have stuck with my play style instead of having to fit the "Raid Enchanter" mold. From being able to supercharge a group to being a raid "necessity" because of 3 spells is disheartening.
- I had started tinkering with "Advanced UI Theory", but only created 2 UI compilations that, while fully functional, I would consider to be 75% done in spirit. Problem with this is since my last time online, I have lost my laptop and with it all my UI development files. Haven't even seen the UI XML in almost a year, can't say I would be able to jump right back in without playing catch-up. Loved making UI's though. But you have to be a "power player" to make power UIs.
This is the 4th extended break I have taken from Dalaya and after a certain period of time I have an itching to come back and dive right back in, just like after every break I've taken. But my last little bit playing was the least amount of play and the most amount of work invested in Dalaya.
Since I lost my laptop, I lost all my secondary accounts information and I can only remember my main account info. It does not ultimately matter much though, as the other accounts was only tradeskill item storage, and I prefer to solo-Lynne (not to 2box. What are the chances of that, an enchanter that doesn't like to box).
So,... back to my question. Has there been new content implemented that is not all synonymous with timesink? Has there been changes made to Enchanters that would affect gameplay in a major way, whether beneficial or detrimental? Oh, and how is the server population? Still hovering around peak 300 and 50 in off-hours?
Thanks for reading and replying!
