Concerning referring friends to SoD, and the legality of said action

I've browsed the Rules listing, and I've not seen this mentioned here. I also remember a bit of a kerfuffle when SoD = WR regarding somebody mentioning this server on Official forums.

What is the current staff standing/opinion on mentioning SoD to other gamers? I presume referring the site to the odd friend or two is perfectly acceptable, but what about linking to the SoD homepage on public forums...a step too far, or is it considered perfectly good publicity? I'd also be interested to hear the general opinion of the community here, do you feel SoD could use positive publicity? Or should it be kept on a hush-hush, word of mouth basis?

That's perfectly fine. Just don't go to the SonyOnlineEntertainment's site and post it, please.
 
You should also make sure that it's not in violation of the rules of the site you post it on, Somethingawful considers SoD "warez" and it is not allowed to be discussed in their Games forum, other sites may have similar policies.
 
We are all about getting new gamers into the game. Get as many people as you can.


Just avoid places like digg and the SOE forums =p
 
There was a contest for the server to get as many new people as possible for increased XP for a week

I remember that, the XP was pretty awesome, I think Wiz even extended it an extra week.
