Computer Submerged in Mineral Oil

Re: Computer Submerged in Minderal Oil

Mineral Oil, and it's old or copycat.

Also seen purified water and vegetable oil. Both cases ended up shorting out from accumulation of debris or some shit

Actually because of the chemical properties of Mineral Oil vs. Vegetable Oil ... Mineral Oil won't go rancid and shouldn't have build up which would make it the perfect choice. It's just harder to find mineral oil and is more expensive than vegetable oil. Still a very cool concept.

I saw a pc submerged in mineral oil in some extreme overclocking experiment back in like 98. This is pretty old news. It's an interesting, but old idea. The PC in mineral oil I saw way back when actually worked well. The mineral oil was cycled through a cooler and then regurgitated out a small pipe right above the CPU.

This guy did boot into Ubuntu though, so he gets props for that.
