Complete noob to WR here :)

I recently (about 1 month before eq2 launched) sold my EQ account to someone who could use it because I was boycotting SOE for charging way too much for their product, and expecting us to pay out the wazoo for expansions. Personally, I quit about 2 months after Luclin came out. Anyways, I found you guys through EQEmu's IRC chat, and thought "hey a decent place at last!". While I know little about this server, I've read all the stickies and hope to know everything else soon :) One issue I can forsee having, and before I reinstall eq to my system...the expansions I'm missing. I was told that just patching up to the most recent version on live should take care of it, as the login servers say you have every CD key, but I wanted to be sure. Also, should I patch to the most recent update, or is there somewhere else I should go for a patch that works for this server? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm just really, really anxious to try this out :) And to get a friend or 2 to play if it runs right :)

(edit: I found another issue. a technical one. Apparently for whatever reason, SOE decided to not support my vid card, a radeon 9200 series card. Almost every other radeon card (Including older ones) are supported, but not the 9200. Any solution for this too?)
 
no idea on the radeon issue, but as far as expansions, you can just patch to live for all the latest files, then do the hotfix and WR patcher.
 
well.

On the expansions:

Luclin, Kunark, Velious are required. PoP is only recommended. I believe people have mentioned that you can download the files from SoE's site, but I not know for sure.
 
Radeon 9200 will run WR, WR doesnt have the new sky etc, thats why i bought this new comp, i had a radeon 9200 also, so yeh enjoy and it will run fine over here.
 
Sounds like everything should work fine, including the card (I used to use that card back when I played WR all the time)

Thanks. Yea, I'm finding it fun, but the catch is i forgot everything I once knew about eq :/ Good lord am I having a hard time finding my way around and hell, even fighting!
 
hehe. You probably didn't forget as much as you think. Alot of the zone connections here are different than they were on live.

As for the fighting... eh. You'll get used to it. :)

That's part of the fun. I haven't played the new WR expansion at all, and I'm going to try it out tonight. I've got a funny feeling I'm going to be lost within seconds or so, and without my old guild around I won't have anyone to ask.

Oh god. I fear logging in now.
 
I'm more or less talking about forgetting everything about the class that I made it the furthest with (magician). I guess I'll spend a few days reviewing the lore to post a nice RP story and hope I can find a nice cozy RP guild who can give me some pointers on my class in the future :)
