Close range model wierdness

So this is what SoD looks to me when I'm walking around:


But this is what it turns to when I'm close to an object (corpse, player, pet, npc, but not walls):






Any idea on how to fix it?

I have a NVidia GeForce 8800 GTX, AMD Ahtlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ and 2 GB of RAM.
 
Its your GFX card, people with the same graphics card have reported the same problem.
