Client Crash on Character Creation

So I get logged in to a brand new shiny account (since my old one is apparently gone), I click on Create New Character and my client instantly crashes with exactly that message.

I've patched to live servers up to LDoN.
I've downloaded and pasted the SoD files into my SoD (formerly EQ) folder.
I've patched to SoD via it's patcher.

Any thoughts?
 
I must just be unlucky. I've been trying to get this working for 5 days now, and finally the SoD patcher is downloading a ton of UI files. I must have been trying while t he patch server was down. I'll post whenever it's done to confirm that it's working.
