Cleric Padder or more?

Mager

Dalayan Beginner
I do like the new changes to the CH system but with those in place I feel that the role of a cleric has greatly been decreased. I know that Wiz talked about revamping the cleric class but I haven't yet seen updates on this or discussion so I figured I'd start it.

So if you have any suggestions for the cleric class please post them up here. Flamers need not reply to this or subsequent posts. The development team is smart enough to determine what is to over powering and unrealistic. So let them handle it.

Please feel free to add productive and constructive comments below.

Personally, I don't get a lot of time out of chain because of Icar's maxmana and Colt being MT, but I enjoy my time out of chain immensely more than my time in chain.

How did we decrease the role of the cleric? I feel like it's a big boon :?

a few thoughts

Cleric spell that allows melee to crit vs undead.
Cleric spell similiar to blades that procs on undead only.
Cleric spell similiar to blades that procs a small heal on wielder.

Summon pet that is like a blue willow wisp pet does small heals on group members

Summon pet that looks like HUGE hammer and has a stronger attack, hp, and procs against undead.

Line of spells that might be used an alternative to Panter or EoT.

Increase Rejuv to be regen for HP and Stamina that is greater than or at least equal to Druid version.

What this does is reduce cleric dependancy from 6+ to 3 (+ padders). I think that's a very good thing for all involved, since it'll let me expand the cleric class more without further alleviating to the massive power increase that "more clerics" is, and it also means that every individual cleric's gear and AAs mean something

proxy hammer (hammer pet that melees as if it was you, essentially ranged melee), maybe the contingency spells.

thats from Wiz original post about the CH change.

Not sure what the contingency spells were but I thought the goal was to add some other options to the cleric role. Maybe these ideas have been canned, but I thought maybe they were forgotten about so i was bringing the topic back out and looking for players to assist in the development.

First and second is paladin territory. I like the third though.

Clerics already heal fine. They don't need MORE healing.

We have plans to use the cleric pet hammer as a "melee range extender" of a sort, but we don't know.

Plain no.

hmm

well wish I could bring up that link but currently the school has that site blocked so you'll have to explain it.

It's some really really old humour article about clerics from early eqlive, just an impulse post :)

Maybe not for the same amount of wizards. Might be overpowering. I like that idea though.

Mager, are you wanting clerics to have more utility, or more dps? or both?

Melee range extender sounds useful so long as it doesn't gimp cleric hammer. I'm not exactly sure what the dps of the cleric hammer pet is (but he max triples for like 40, average is much less), but if the melee range extender used the cleric's offense and 1hb/2hb, it might make it so that the cleric could never hit... Rabb has max 1hb and offense, so he would be fine, but even when I AM in melee range I don't hit much ...

Undead only free nukes were a thought I had a while ago, but I don't see myself using them much.

The Blades of Healing sounds cool. Sort of like Mark of Karn but not as overpowering. I guess it would have to not stack with regular blades though?

AFAIK I never got a response on what "contingency" spells were either. I'm thinking something along the lines of Death Pact, but perhaps activates not on death but on low health. A Divine Light on someone at 10% wouldn't necessarily save them if they were being wailed on, but it could still be useful.

It would be like express padding? Cast a made up spell like spell like "Barricade of Bliss" that would instantly heal when the target reached a certain % of health? They would essentially act like time delay runes. Something like that would definitely make padding a bit easier since the amount of damage high range bosses are doing can take 35% or more off the tank a round and padding all the time drains mana real fast when you cant judge whether the tank will survive till the next CH hits and if he does you just wasted 300 mana.
