Change to DoTs and HoTs

This will be going in prematurely with today's performance patches and doesn't really deserve its own news post.

- DoTs can now crit following the same rules/AAs/focuses as DDs.
- Necros, NOT Wizards, get the innate chance to crit on DoTs that Wizards have on DDs.
- HoTs can now crit following the same rules/AAs/focuses as heals.
- Clerics get the innate chance to crit with HoTs AND heals.
- Affliction Enhancement has been lowered to the same effect levels as Damage Increment.
 
Spells like lich are critting right now. This will be fixed next patch.

Just a question that came to my mind:
Necros have Self-DoT's/HoT's, will they crit too?
 
Is it just me, or is this a boost to hots for however much the caster's crit chance is? Not that I mind.
 
Awesome change Wiz ! It improves damage drastically from what I noticed. When 3 dots crit at the same time with a cunning from your local beastlord, it's like 1400+850+980 , close to a strong wizard DD ! and it finally changes something for the people who put AAs in spellcasting fury & co. The affliction enhancement nerf is totally fair also. And it was actually funny to see my own archlich crit on myself :p I'm glad it'll be fixed, although I would have considered it as a side effect of the dot crit implementation.

Just 2 things I'm not sure of :
- I guess it is what Manluas is asking for : do duration lifetaps like Zevfeer theft of Vitae or Spirit of Kaezul have a chance to crit the healing part of the spell ?
- I thought crits were rather restricted, like necros could crit dots, wizards DDs,clerics HoT ; but apparently druids or shamans can crit on dots, I guess pallies could crit on heals as well as other wis casters and necros can still crit on DDs I assume (although I only saw a lifetap crit since implementation). Is it about to be fixed or will it stay ?

I talked to Joudaro this morning (5 1/2 hours ago) and he confirmed, that Necro Taps as well as HoT's will Crit.
 
Necros get the innate chance with DoTs, just like Wizards and Clerics get an innate chance with nukes and heals, respectively. Those other classes can crit with AAs, however.
 
OK thx for the clarification both of you (Rabb sorry I understand now the word "innate" when Wiz used it, my bad :p ).
I guess won't notice much if Zevfeer heals my pet twice as usual but it's very good news anyway, I noticed crits happen very often. I love it !
 
Today while XPing in everchill, I used the HoT Elixir of Bliss at least 50 times. When the mob was pulled, I would start out by casting a HoT on the tank, and then CHing after that. Anyways, I did not get one HoT crit the entire 3 hours we were there. Can this be checked to verify that crit healing for HoT's is working properly. I have HG3, so I would expect the HoT to crit about as often as my other heals.

Crit HoTs were working for me last night. Note that you get the wrong message however:

Your spell does critical damage!

Maybe it's also being directed to a different window in your UI configuration as a different message type?
 
Hey Dun, Kylun gets regular crits on his EoB. The message is 'Your something did critical something'. It shows up under one of the spell filters, not crits filter, iirc.
