Certain keys not working Ingame

For some reason, the following keys are not functional ingame:

[ does nothing
] is remapped to [
\ is remapped to ]
' does nothing
= does nothing

It is ONLY for this game, nowhere else, and it's very annoying as I like correct spelling and not being able to use ' or + or = is quite annoying.

Any help?

That's just the thing, it isn't keybindings that are the problem. It's actual typing. This only happens when I go to type. Currently it is impossible to type a ' or a \. I can do [ and ] granted they are on the wrong key.

And before you ask, no I don't use a keyboard remapper.

And yes, I have reset my keybindings.

So it happens even when you are typing in a chat window in game?

That's very strange.

Just to check, use alt-o and go see if = is mapped to anything. I know you said you reset them but check anyway.

If that's not it, I'm stumped.

Yea, it isn't keybound to anything. I mean I can work around the cut text issues, in fact im slowly getting used to it. But not being able to use apostrophes or equal signs is driving me insane lol.

I'm having the same issue where my apostrophe and equal buttons will not register in game. I only play using the EQW client though, maybe it's a bug within that client?

Man, I have had the same issue since I got my new computer in July, but I just power through.

Those keys only do NOT work for SoD and work for all my other apps.

I've never of of it but it's always possible.

Did you guys run the install on those machines or did you merely copy the game folder over from a previous machine?

If you upgraded to a new computer and simply copied the folder from backup, you might have weird issues like this come up. It's a matter of missing or wrong drivers for the game.

Are you using a wireless keyboard? Also, does your keyboard have a keypad? The keypad being the 1-9 numbers in a square on the right side of the keyboard, with a numlock and various other keys nearby. If so, do any of those keys allow you to use those symbols? For example, above my keypad, to the right on the numlock key, is a / which is exactly the same as the usual / next to my shift key. A keypad usually also has a + and - and a .

Either way, do you have some kind of keyboard/mouse management software running the background? For example, I have a fancy Logitech Keyboard/mouse and I have software running in the background that lets me bind various things to various buttons on my mouse, and it activates the changes when I run certain programs/games.

If you have something similar, I wonder if perhaps it actively changes the keyboard depending on what you are running, and with SoD, it goes screwy (because it's an old game or whatever).

Hold Control-Alt-Delete, and in task manager, click processes. Do you see one called "hkcmd.exe"? If so, try ending it and then try the game. If it works, you can do something about permanently disabling that, but we might need to check that you won't need it for anything else first.

If that's not it, then I'm not sure what it could be. If you all happen to be using the same brand laptop, it's possible that could help find a solution. It's a tough one though because it's a really unusual problem.

In the meantime, all I can suggest is buying a keyboard to plug in to the laptop for playing games (or just SoD). You can find them for just a few dollars, or spend more if you want a nicer one. I have a laptop I use sometimes, and whenever I am going to use it for some time, I plug in a real keyboard, real mouse, and a real monitor. I have them all sitting on my desk so I just put the laptop down and plug in all 3 and then it's basically like using a real desktop PC.

No sir, there is no such process running.

And as much as it bugs me, I really dont think I need to buy a whole new keyboard just to do it ;p

What version of the client do you have installed btw? Is it pre-titanium or post?

I would like some additional information. Please do the following:

1) Run 'dxdiag'.
2) Use 'Save All Information' to create a new file containing all the dxdiag info.
3) Create a new post and paste in the contents of the file.

Might it be something to do with windows vista? I have titanium installed on vista and its teh same thing

One of my friends installed Titanium edition on Vista Home Basic 32 bit, and does NOT have the issue.

So, it isn't as simple as stating "Titanium edition on any version of Vista." There has to be another component to the equation.
