Caster Class Login Bug Experiment

Hello to all the Caster Class Charries we have,

I have a experiment going, as to why there's the 1017 Error, or when you get to the char select screen, you select a Caster Charrie, go to zone in, and get zone hanged. If you fall into this category, please follow the instructions below, and let me know via the board, weither this fix works for you or not. This will take some testing, so don't think this is a instant fix yet.

Goto your EverQuest Directory (Where you run eqgame.exe from)
Make a Backup copy of spells_en.txt by either renaming it spells_en.old, or copying it to a backup folder.

Make a Copy of spells_us.txt (The one we distribute for the game), and rename it spells_en.txt

Once you have done this, try logging in. As I said, this isn't a instant fix yet, just a experiment to see if our problems are being caused by this.

I havn't tried that one and it may be more cost effective than my method.

I had a serious login bug with all of my caster characters on various accounts. It orignated with Eelin (the first character to experience the bug), after trying many methods I decided to use the #clearallspells command. (NOTE: they will not reimburse you for spells)

This actually solved my problem and I only had to do it for Eelin. Just a thought for those of you stuck with this terrible problem.
 
I'm having a somewhat serious problem with the login bug, I'm not sure what to do next.

My shaman, Thossur, first experienced the loginbug last weekend, I talked to a gm, and they moved my char, told my to try #clearspells, and warned me i wouldn't be reimbursed for the cost of the spells.

It DID fix my problem, but not for long, after one night of grouping with some friends friday, i went ld, and become loginbugged again. I tried Linmiyu's suggestion, and it didn't help at all, messed around for an hour before i gave up for the night. Tried to login today, and still bugged, talked to another GM, who moved my char, suggested i try clearspells, and said he would reimburse this time.

Well, it worked again, i didn't get reimbursed(understandable, if he was busy, or just forgot because i didn't squeak too much) problem is, it worked only for a few hours, and maybe 10-12 zonings, and now I'm login bugged with Thossur again.

If there's anything else i could do, or have done, I'd appreciate it(I read where there was a possibility of having a character "recreated") but as it is right now, i spent all my savings replacing spells the first time, and borrowed 350pp from a friend to finish them out again this time.
The PP isn't the big issue for me, as much as if anyone has any ideas for something that could be done to help prevent this problem from constantly reoccuring, So i can continue to enjoy this server, and the people that help make it such a great place. :sadf:
 
About #clearspells, I've read this from you and I've allso experience the loginbug with Fjorod and he got created.
Now you say that you get the loginbug back, so I GUESS that it's one of the spells you buy that is bugged, question is what spell it is.....
I've never had the loginbug again after my recreate, BUT I didn't buy ALL the spells I had earlier, I only bought the level spells that I needed, never bothered to buy the low level spells.
 
What happened to me.

I'm in a hurry so this will be rushed,

I hit level 50 last night, and afterwards I just ported to Mistwoods and
went to bed.

Come on this morning, port to Great Divide, zone crash, relog.

I get a tell to port someone to Wyvernfang, port back to Mistwood, zone crash, relog.

I port them, they give me KEI for my trouble, I port back to Great Divide, zone crash, relog.

I then can't get back on, it freezes after I select Elendil and when it tries to load.

I try Lin's idea with the spell_en, it worked! I get back on, so I'm in GD, I zone into Thurg, zone crash, relog.

Can't log back in, it freezes after I select Elendil.. been that way for hours now.

So to recap I had NOTHING changed on my character from last night til this morning except that I turned level 50, and I had KEI, no new spells, no nothing at all, cause I didn't do anything except Port and Translocate.
 
To reduce some login problems, i don't buff my self, sometimes one or two important buff, when i zone or camp, i take all buffs off before, it fixed for my part the login and zoning issue, but of course you lack certain buffs HP/AC/DS/resists.. etc, etc...
 
Can login problem have something to do with Levitate?

I have only highlvl spell(51) and have major loginproblems. Ppl with only lowlvl spell have few problems it seems. Also Levitate lvl 51 have som bugg to it cuz i cant remove it from spellbook like other spells with rightclick and delete.

One player in guild (wiz) did a #clearspells with 16 and less spells tho and it worked better, tho i dont know if he had the high lvl Levi.

Can be the solution but i dont know..... maybe i hope...

(cept when i go ld in the middle of a zone) Thanks for the advice, made the loginbug go from extremely disheartening, to just moderately annoying =)

the Levitate spell seems to cause alot of Login and zoneing problems, been testing it with it on when zoning, the result is that the screen freezes then i restart client to log in and i get the login in problem. I had to login a lot of times then i finally get in when the spell started to fade...
 
I've this bug for a week or two. Now i can't log in by BST at all :( . Tried like hundred of times and still no luck! Hope this bug will get fixed soon
 
If i'm not sitting medding, i have the 51st levitatin spell on me about 80% of the time. I will crash to a zone about one every 20 times i zone. way back before the conversion i would have the log in bugs, but not any since.
 
I read the above thread and i only have one question what about those of us who don't have chars in Winter's roar server and still get the loggin error message...what solution is there for us, i have done everyhting but still i can't seem to get on server

Any help is greatly appreciatted
 
Login problem

Amyste started having this problem after unknown ports tonight. We tried agian and agian and had to log into one character and then log her alt off then log back in with amyste.

After doing this 500 times we decided to try to log amyste on my pc and it worked fine no problems no login lag or anything.

Maybe its something on the pc? Im not sure if its fully porting because i would thinkt it would happen to tanks too.
