Capela's Newb Questions

I used to play EQ like 2 years ago, but i stopped playing cause i was missing out a lot on life LOL, then i realize that i was losing too much time in my real life and now i wanna go back to EQ, just that... i'm too lazy to be paying for that crap, having all the CD's here with no actual way of playing it... then i heard of the SoD site through some web searching... and then i started to ask some questions that when i started browsing the site, i just couldn't find no answer.
SOOOO, here are my questions:
1) What zones does this Server hold and if it holds full expansions, what expansions do i have to install (NOTE: I stopped playing when LDoN came out)
2) I heard that the Zone connections are differents... but... are there any modifications on the map as well?
3) Is it more fun than EQ?
4) Can i make my own guild?
5) Is the experience actually "faster" (it was too bitchy for me to get to 65, it took me hell lots of month)
6) (I haven't installed the game yet) When EQ opens, do u have to take the Live EQ patches as well with the SOD? And then when the patching concludes, do u go to the login account and connect to server just like a regular EQ? or is it different... i'm just asking... cause my patching is VERY slow even though i have DSL (though that's not much speed anymore this days :p)

Well, i appreciate what you all been doing here... hey it's a free EQ, this is what i've been dreaming to play, cause back then... i just didn't had enough time to dedicate, and ppl just actually had more experience and AA points than me.

Thanks a lot! if i like the answers, i might see you in the game. Perreo!!!

1) You honestly only need the patcher file for Live. Once you run the patcher, do advanced and check all expansions up to LDoN and optional zones. SoD doesnt support past LDoN.

2) EQ maps will not be accurate but the zones do look the same except for NPCs pretty much. The SoD patcher will put the SoD map files in which are correct in game. FYI, zone connection map can be found at below link...

3) I believe it is very enjoyable. The top heavy sense of Live is gone.

4) Yes, but you need others to create it with.

5) XP is faster (don't know actual percentage)

6) See basic guide in step one but to rehash - patch to Live only up till LDoN and Optional Zones, forget about Live, Download SoD patcher and run it to patch to SoD, Create an account through link in guide from front page (all this information is in the Getting Started Guide on the main page).

And as a side note, forget every thing you knew about Live. SoD is a customer game that may share some similarities, but NPCs, quests, gear, etc are all custom.

Heck, now this sound profesional, one more thing, does the PoP expansion up? cause i do believe this expansion screwed all the fun up...

After this, all my noob questions will be posted here to not be posting like a total retard

Capela,

PoP is implemented, however, there are few zones active, for instance as a new character you will start in NightmareB and run through a series of read and answer quests that lead to a primary progressive quest (currently tops out at 35-40ish, solo), then you get ported to your starting city. I think Torment is the only other zone from PoP that is active (there are prob more but the names have been changed and I haven't been to them yet to match up the new names with the old ones). NO POK!!! Travel is done the old fashioned way, run or get/pay for a port. There are generic translocators between a couple of the major cities (currently 4).

The development staff (Wiz and crew) have done a most excellent job of repackaging/redesigning everything - SoD is so much better than live that it defies description... :)

Should be added that those translocators are not free. And boats are implemented between some zones and they do work here.

My personal opinion is that everything that was good about Live was made better here (and then some).

K this is beautiful :D, thanks a lot for the time, i might just actually start playing it... when this patchy thing stops freezing lol, cause like it starts and whenm it downloads it just freezes... then u start it up again and it resumes... pretty shabbyeh?

Capela..try this quick fix to keep it from freezing. The first time might have been the one in 1000 chance it screws up ;p

Go to C:/release and delete the file named "files". It will be a text document. Run the patcher again. it has worked for me twice now, having only had this problem twice. ;)

cool ok that had it working :p, now i have that MSS32.dll error that some get and i try to fix the address at where it is changing to Company/EQ/eqgame.exe but it didn't work, so, i just asked in the topic on technical support but if u know something can u send it to me from here? :p thank you for your time!
