Hello, when I select my character at the character select screen it goes to the loading screen then boots me back to the server select screen. I have reinstalled the game and run windows 7 and windows xp (sp3) compatibility, I have run with and without bind affinity to one processor, enabled and disabled graphics fix, use EQW on and off, and with EQPN and without. I have no firewall, I have disabled peerblock, I am using Windows 8.1 with administrator rights any help would be appreciated, thank-you.
 
I play on 2 different 8.1 computers, and have no issue. I do not have bind on, I do not have eqpn installed either. I am not using a compatibility mode, use the graphics fix, and I do use EQW. Things I could suggest:
1) re-check windows firewall (it seems to turn back on after some updates)
2) Update video card drivers
3) disable a bunch of stuff in the video options
4) If you have antivirus, temp disable it.
 
Dumb question but have you repatched all? Thinking a little more outside the box: Maybe zone files or custom ui is bad. You could do a fresh install and see if that works.
 
Nvm, I found out what was wrong from the official everquest forums, thanks for the help anyway.

"the issue for AMD is the FSB (front side bus) is not locked down. I had to play with my nephew's AMD system (first one I built) and it was the FSB I had to lock down to keep EQ from freaking out.

As of the time the dxdiag was generated, the system is OC'd.

As to why EQ does freak out? Due to the 10+year code and the way it is reading the CPU speed. EQ (not the only game though) does not play well with a dynamic changing CPU speeds."
