Can't Login with new account

I created a new account and was told:

Code:
Adding SoD login account (step 1)...SUCCESS

Creating forum account...SUCCESS

Linking forum account to game server account...SUCCESS

Congratulations. Your game server account and forum account have been set up. The userid and password is the same for both.

But I am unable to log in. The Shards of Dalaya login screen tells me that my username and password are invalid. Any thoughts?

After reading the setup procedure, I realized that I ran the sod patch too early. I should have updated it on the main servers first. In any case, I would have thought that the sod patch would have updated the eqhost.txt file with the correct server information. If I am to manually edit this file, where would I find settings? I only found one reference in the forum here and the settings didn't work - I was given the same error. I also looked over the wiki and didn't find any setting there either.

The SoD patcher will update your eqhost.txt file. You don't need to run the live patcher at all.

Then I should be able to log in without any problems.

Well, I don't think you want me to show off the contents of my eqhost.txt file here on the forum if it's got SOD settings. I don't suppose there is much more I can do if no other suggestions are available.

Thanks anyways.

Posting the contents of your eqhost.txt is fine.

If you perform the following steps you shouldn't have a problem:
  • Install Titanium edition
  • Patched without errors
  • Launch the application correctly
  • Logged in with a valid username and password
If you can determine which of these steps didn't happen correctly somebody might be able to tell you how to fix it.

So the titanium version is that important? Good deal. I'll go grab that and give this another go.

Also, could you just clarify "Launch the application correctly"? Just so that we're on the same track? I was running just the standard E********.EXE file.

Thanks!

That's part of the problem. Run SoDPatcher.exe every time you load the game up... always. That patches the eqhost file, checks for needed downloads and runs everything properly. It can/will also launch eqwindows and now mumble if you want it to.. overall no reason not to run the patcher each time.

Yep, running that exe is certainly wrong. Even if you wished to skip the patcher (which you shouldn't) that is still the wrong program to run.

As others have pointed out, run the sod patcher, not *********.exe. Also, if you use EQW, select eqgame.exe, not *********.exe (which starts the eq patcher).
