Can no longer log in: steps I've taken

I was in SoD and camped for a few minutes to look something up on Wiki.

I usually do not use EQW but when I went to go back in I thought I would try running it to see if it would work now.

I run the SoD patcher, click advanced, select Use EQW and click Repatch All.

I get stuck in the EULA screen and cant get out so i kill the process.

I rerun the SoD patcher, deselect Use EQW and run. When I try to sign on I get a bad username /password error.

I checked the forum and from there verified that my hosts file was pointing at the right ip address and that it was not read only. I also deleted my files.txt file in my patcher folder. I have tried to reconnect since, every time using the SoD patcher but every time I get a bad username / password error.

Any advice is appreciated.

If the eqhost.txt points in the right direction, then it's a firewall/router issue. Check your windows firewall, if enabled.
 
Just to follow up:

I examined all of my settings and still could not connect.

I rebooted and everything worked fine. :brow:

Windows firewall isn't enabled, and I didn't touch anything since this morning :brow:.
 
I have two eqfolders, but I already checked if there was any link pointing to the wrong directory and there isn't. The path of the patcher and eqw are ok, too.
 
It didn't work, I went do something else, and when I was back, I could log in. I really don't know what has hapened, maybe the PC thought I needed some break :brow:. A friend of mine got the same error and yesterday at 1:00am he could log in again.

I think my PC has been abducted, really.
 
I was wondering if some one could help me, this isn't my account - I'm just using my brother's.
I keep trying to log in, and a few hours ago today it was perfectly fine but now it's not. At first I tried and it would let me patch, log in, select my character, almost finish loading and then an error occured.
I tried to patch and log in again but this time it came up with the error as it finished patching, so I got to see what it was.
But neither of us can make sense of it, he's logged in on his laptop which is using the same internet connection. I've attempted to re-boot about six times and even went to the 'Starting Guide' on the main page>>Setup. Where it says the patcher requires .NET FRAMEWORK to function. And downloaded that just to be certain the patcher would work even though it has done before.

The error that keeps coming up is : Error opening packed file system (eqfeart1.pak)!

Help anyone?
 
That sounds very odd. Try bypassing the patcher by simply running eqw.exe and see if that works. And if the patcher doesn't fix itself in a day or so, try deleting files.txt and select patch all from advanced.
