Buffing Content

I wanted to post this in Balancing Discussion but I can't post there so:

My question is (and I'm not trying to start trouble) why does content around tier 9-10-11 keep getting buffed?

My guild is starting abyss, and it's frustrating when we get a fight down to 10% or 8% and it takes every ounce of everything we have to get it there and then we wipe to it. After we wipe we find out that it has been buffed to the point where it now has twice as much HP as it used to.

We keep hearing that spires fights are being buffed too, and that's not far off for us progression-wise.

These fights aren't easy, and doing them on tier is impossible (some of them) - were they buffed because over tiered guilds were farming them for alts / new recruits?

As a guild we have 99% of the tier 9 fights under our belts, and a couple of tier 10 fights also. We don't have the ritual spells to be flagged for Sanctum, so that's not an option yet, and it really leaves a dead end on progression unless we go farm T8 content for weeks to get the flags - and doing that will lose us players out of boredom.

Realistically our options are:

Yclist - Heavily contested content still, we've done 4 fights in here so far but we never seem to find them spawned on a raid night.

Thaz - The "Bad Press" on this zone has turned most people in the guild off to it. Rumors are it's buggy, it's way harder than its tier, and it crashes a lot. Maybe this isn't true... and we'll be forced to find out soon enough.

That's it - 2 options. Abyss is mostly out of reach for us and besides it's also extremely contested by on tier guilds and bored high tiers farming for alts and recruits.

With multiple guilds breaking into or farming tier 10 - Prophecy, From Accounting, Seven Virtues, Companions (a little ahead of t10 i think?) and Sacred Band - things are congested. To top it off Spires has been buffed and so has Abyss forcing guilds like SB backwards into our tier.

I'll be completely honest, and I hope I'm wrong, but it feels like these changes are being made to funnel players into Thaz due to giving them nowhere else to go. I'm just curious more than anything - why the changes? Also consider when this content-in-question was "cutting edge" every guild doing them had full Thaz gear from Old Thaz, which was extremely powerful gear AND the fights were easier. None of us have that Old Thaz gear to help us, and the fights are now harder. These fights were acceptable for a long time and now they're all of a sudden "too easy"?

There's been a lot of bad press from T13s looking down on older content mocking it for how easy it is, of course thats after they farmed the crap out of it themselves and their alts and their recruits etc. When I go back to Valorb im like wow this sure is easy, no way this is tier7.... Plus then the wiki raid tiers were nerfed, so things that used to be a tier are now lower, so ya... Now its buffed and I feel bad for the people starting it now, hell I feel bad for myself too since CW cant scum their new recruits through alot of Abyss or Spires content anymore. With the low server pop, making content people are used to killing significantly harder to the point its not really killable anymore didnt really increase fun imo.

That is a huge problem. Starting in Turruj. Oktar with the time restraint is impossible to beat on tier I don't think it can be 1/2 to 2/3 clear before running out of time.

Spires is a mess!! SB farmed a bunch of spires for over a year and now there are unbeatable events. For instance akarn we have not beaten since the change. It took us and CW months to learn and beat the fight for the first few times and the. All of a sudden the t13 dudes say its too easy and it gets harder. Yes the fights are easy for someone 2-3 tiers above it. It should be if you know the strats. Voidworm hasn't been killed since the change and I doubt it will. Conglomeration has been killed maybe twice and I doubt it ever will again. I feel sorry for companions and prophecy because without borrowing someone who is scrolled they will never see past the first floor. It is ridiculous that saitha the boss who can legitimately 1 round ANY tank in the game is not the hardest fight in the zone.
 
Most of the fights were challenging on-tier and easier if you were a few tiers beyond it, that seems like good balance. No idea why anything needed changing. Throw assorted class/item nerfs into the mix and the whole situation is proper fucked which anybody could have foreseen.
 
Yeah we also went from finishing duo on fumes to getting obliterated. Losing the dps of the class nerfs combined with making the content more difficult results in loads I frustration and us having to back gear to replace those that quit.
 
From our view point (Companions) the only abyss target that seemed buffed was Overgrown Szithri. We are still t10, having unboxxed raids the last few weeks had been an issue for making solid attempts at ferdin so we can be key'd to try Prime and all the wall head banging I hear that will bring. (believe me, we are tired of yclist and want to move on and leave the zone to you guys breaking in, were working on it)

Thaz we gave a few attempts at. I believe the bugs are worked out from what I hear, but the timer is a bit insane and leaves us with zero desire to deal with.
 
I have strong feelings on this matter, and I'd like to be involved in this discussion. I'm also on staff, and I need to make sure I'm on the same page as the rest of staff on this before I take part in this discussion.

Until then, I offer sincere wishes of success and encouragement to all of you guilds in the range some refer to as "Tier 9-10".
 
I agree with virtually all of this, and it's basically why I haven't bothered to log on for a few weeks. I think I really needed a break, though, and I have high hopes for this all working out soon. It's just impossible to really make all these changes without some awkward intermezzo where the balance is just bad. Guess I better start exping again to be on top on my game =P
 
You know, the post I ended up not posting earlier and replaced with a 2 line encouragement was a classic Tao ballache to read, but I don't think I had anything as bad as "intermezzo" in there.
 
As one of the nerd tier 13 idiots, I always thought these changes were bad and kneejerk and largely made on IRC hearsay from people who had farmed them endlessly overtier.

The only one I know that was really required to be changed was murkflower in abyss because it was a 20 second burn joke.
