I wanted to post this in Balancing Discussion but I can't post there so:
My question is (and I'm not trying to start trouble) why does content around tier 9-10-11 keep getting buffed?
My guild is starting abyss, and it's frustrating when we get a fight down to 10% or 8% and it takes every ounce of everything we have to get it there and then we wipe to it. After we wipe we find out that it has been buffed to the point where it now has twice as much HP as it used to.
We keep hearing that spires fights are being buffed too, and that's not far off for us progression-wise.
These fights aren't easy, and doing them on tier is impossible (some of them) - were they buffed because over tiered guilds were farming them for alts / new recruits?
As a guild we have 99% of the tier 9 fights under our belts, and a couple of tier 10 fights also. We don't have the ritual spells to be flagged for Sanctum, so that's not an option yet, and it really leaves a dead end on progression unless we go farm T8 content for weeks to get the flags - and doing that will lose us players out of boredom.
Realistically our options are:
Yclist - Heavily contested content still, we've done 4 fights in here so far but we never seem to find them spawned on a raid night.
Thaz - The "Bad Press" on this zone has turned most people in the guild off to it. Rumors are it's buggy, it's way harder than its tier, and it crashes a lot. Maybe this isn't true... and we'll be forced to find out soon enough.
That's it - 2 options. Abyss is mostly out of reach for us and besides it's also extremely contested by on tier guilds and bored high tiers farming for alts and recruits.
With multiple guilds breaking into or farming tier 10 - Prophecy, From Accounting, Seven Virtues, Companions (a little ahead of t10 i think?) and Sacred Band - things are congested. To top it off Spires has been buffed and so has Abyss forcing guilds like SB backwards into our tier.
I'll be completely honest, and I hope I'm wrong, but it feels like these changes are being made to funnel players into Thaz due to giving them nowhere else to go. I'm just curious more than anything - why the changes? Also consider when this content-in-question was "cutting edge" every guild doing them had full Thaz gear from Old Thaz, which was extremely powerful gear AND the fights were easier. None of us have that Old Thaz gear to help us, and the fights are now harder. These fights were acceptable for a long time and now they're all of a sudden "too easy"?
