Broken-ness with Newport Wizard Quest III

Firstly, the quest text from Hayden Aulder is not very good: he asks you to throw explosions at Summoner Sven "in his room", but neglects to say where the general location of the room is (it is in the Inn, but for a new player who doesn't know Newport very well this might not be readily apparent).

Secondly, the "throwing explosions" bit doesn't seem to work well...Hayden didn't give me any quest explosive item, Sven didn't respond to hails, and I ended up killing Sven with nukes (there was nothing on his corpse, either)

I completed this quest a few weeks ago with my wizard. I had the benefit of a druid that could track him, so thats how i found him.

I did find the quest to be pretty funny as a the questgiver's tactical plan is to nuke the hell out of something. So I blasted him with nukes repeatedly and iirc he ran away at low life muttering something like. "Here's what you came for - take it" and it magically appeared in my inventory.

Check your inventory, if its not there could it possibly be that you overnuked him (for example took him from 50% to dead with one blast and killing him before his escape). I screwed up the first time and had to respawn him by talking to the quest giver so you should be able to try again.

You should always search for an issue before starting a new post. There are already several threads about this quest that would have answered your question.

Basically, you are supposed to nuke Sven to submission. If you overnuke, you kill him before he has a chance to submit and you have to respawn him. When he does submit, the quest item appears in your inventory, just like the other quests that ThinkMeats implemented.
