Broken Drop Rate

Well in short I have been working my way through the Blackscale faction quests for the first time, and stumbled upon the quest in Obsidian Shard Mountains where you need to kill baslisks and loot 25 of their tails(according to the wiki). I spent 3 hours and probably killed around 100 of them and managed to only get only 2 tails to drop, which would entail killing upwards of 1000+ just to get the amount needed for the quest.
I know it's easy enough to just move to another quest, but compared to the others in the same zone which yeild a quest drop every 5-6 kills something seems wrong, it would be nice if a dev could take a look at the drop rates, because at the moment it's not even worth wasting the time to try and do this quest.
 
I just did this quest on an alt a month ago. You are just having really bad luck. Prolly spent around 4-5 hours in total farming all the drops I needed from that zone for blackscale.
 
When I did the Blackscale quests there, I finished all of them much faster than the basilisks. For those I boxed a tracker and kept that entire section of the zone cleared of all mobs and got my tails after several hours. It was pretty annoying and you can definitely get a long streak of hardly any tails which sucks.
 
That quest is terrible and should at least have a good quest reward because I would feel bad for a newbie that does it and wastes their time.
 
i think i skipped that quest... can't you skip a bunch of quests by turning in artifacts?

Going to agree with the bard on this one.

Whether intended or not, I found the drop rate for the basilisk tails to be better on the Dreadlands versions. idk what character is trying to do this quest, so maybe that's an option here.

Sure, you can skip a few quests however you choose to do it. I remember the basilisks being a fairly easy one though. Then again, it was after reaching ally with the liodreth, so maybe my scale of time investment was off.
 
I was sick of the droprate too, so instead of killing greens, i went to dreadlands and killd basilisks there (they also drop them) and get xp at the same time.
