Bringing in the money (Donations)

Here are some ideas i came up with to bring in more cash flow for the developers and admins of the server.

1. Private GM Events for subscribers, yeilding rare items, titles, and even naming items after the winners.

2. Adding advertisments to comon in game media.
PowerAid - Drinkable +10 STA, +10 HP, +3 Regeneration.
Naming common items after there RL counterparts.

3. Hosting your own Subscriber Network, much like IGE or Ahlakazam's Magic Realm... Subscribers get the benefits of looking up spells, maps, tradeskills, and beastiary.

4. Armor Dyes - Casino Tickets - ect. Subscribers recive items that will not give characters advantages, but will give them unique stature, or entertainment.


Right there are 4 different offers, you can tailor the different offers to different subscription plans;

I know this is not my place to answer, but I've seen this reply before, so:

I have a certain set of ethics for this server, and I'd rather let it die than break them. One is giving benefits to people for money.

Recognition in the form of toy items and whatnot -- yes. Levels/equipment -- no.

I dont think giving people casino tickets, they still would have to win, giving people armor dyes, has no benefits, or private gm events, you still have to compete for the title/lore.

I know a person who sends $50.00 on plat every month just to pay for gate potions. He might find some benefit in getting the potions but, if the only way to aquire the potions was through a casino/gm events, he would still pay $50.00 a month just to have the chance to win them. Casinos other than entertaining yeild items that are either worthless or oldworld (un-nurfed) items that nolonger can be found off mobs/quest in there current form. Yet you can still find nurfed items, depending on how the items were modified there might not be any benefits. The Platinum package at the moment gives teh subscriber an item that turns them into a scarecrow, i see no benefits from this besides the entertainment of the illusion.

Having the subscriber network would only make researching lore easier. you still however would have to have a purpose to research somthing, and either way you are going to find out what it is your interested in. The benefits from this would only serve as an out of game information source. This source would be compiled not off of the game database but user submission.

As far as the private events are conserned, I see no reason why not...
These events take alot of time to plan, ans sometimes just as much code... Time is money, those in charge take time out of there lives to set up the events, in some cases they also take money from there personal bank accounts to pay for the server. Why shouldnt they beable to keep there hard earned cash after working for us, these events should be for subscribers imho. on live there is an option to pay an aditional $30.00 a month to enjoy, GM events, serious gaming society, and other less non benefitial venues.

I understand exactly where Wiz is coming from, thats why im making my best attempts to think of ways people will donate without gaining a competative advantage. I dont see enjoying your gratuities for exellent service would be in anyway an advancement over those that choose not to.

We appreciate the thought and time you put into these ideas, but it doesn't really fit in with the vision. The illusion item is about as far as we're going to go in "rewarding" donators.

Alright, sounds good, i do however belive as the game progresses and becomes more popular/complete that somone if not ige/ahlakazam themselves will add your game database and make a killing from there subscribers. Then again, promotion is promotion, and as i cannot afford atm a subscription i plan to give what i can here and there whitout expectations. honestly to say that there is no benefits from being a subscriber is definatly not true... You play, you help make the game possible and knowing that your contributions are directly seen throughout the game in its self is the benefit. Every Euro/dollar spent is visible.
