bow crits?

Not sure how bow crits are supposed to work, but I am a 44 ranger and I went through over 2 backpacks full of arrows and never had one crit. Just wondering if any other ranger had any crits after patch implemented them in?

Well this was on the news forum and if I understand it like it reads you will need the appropiate AA before you see crits.

Crits have been changed around and fixed. Rangers will now get a base chance to crit with bows, Rogues with throwing weapons and Warriors with melee weapons. Paladins will be able to crit (cleansing blows) on undead, as the only class who can crit on undead. Other classes than Warriors will need Combat Fury to crit in melee, and other classes than Rogue/Ranger will need Deadeye to crit at range.[/u]

Dregon -- you seem to have missed the more important part.

The way I read it, a ranger would get a chance to crit without any aa. But I could be wrong, maybe a dev could clarify it for me. I was just saying if we do get it without aa, i dont believe it is working unless it is a rare chance that you would get a crit. 400+ arrows is alot of arrows 8).

I'm no Ranger, but I'm going to have to go with a possible bug.

Two reasons:

1) "Rangers will now get a base chance to crit with bows..."
This specifically says Rangers can now crit with bows.

2) "...and other classes than Rogue/Ranger will need Deadeye to crit at range."
This says that Rogues and Rangers are the only two classes that get to crit at range before AA.

There's my opinion, find my faults =P

Did you fail to notice the Rogue with throwing weapons part?

Huh? Did I read something wrong? This whole thread was about rangers and bows.

And it's a very clearly written patch note. This sounds like a bug, pure and simple - barring any decisive coding dev's may have done to make it a phenominally low chance to crit (which would seem out of place).

P.S. Devs: Incredible work on the latest patch.

bleh. double posted cuz phpBB gave me some silly "post mode not specified" error...even tho it apparently posted =P. Next...

I noticed the Rogue throwing crits, but made specific reference to the Rangers since it was a Ranger post.

I noticed something odd with my crits last night. I already had crits with my bow from buying the AAs. After the patch, I logged in and bought the 3 levels of the PoP AA Deadeye. This AA improves your range by "increasing your chance to both hit the foe and score critical hits on them."

The odd part is that i noticed a significantly lower number of crits than before the patch and before I bought this AA. I wanted to wait a few more days and play around a bit before I brought this up, but I saw this topic and decided to throw that out there.

It could very well be that I was just having an unlucky night. It's very hard to measure since it is a % chance and it's not like I can go back to a few days ago and keep track of the % I was doing pre-patch. It could be nothing but I'll be keeping an eye on it.

I still am not sure if rangers are supposed to have crits with bows without aa or not. If so it is definately bugged cause i went through 5 more backpacks full of arrows and still no crits. If we are supposed to only get them via aa skills then this post is of no importance.

Ranger base chance is bugged right now due to a typo. Will be patched in the week.

Thx for the reply wiz. Also your work is much appreciated. I played live for over 4 years and it pales in comparison to this server. I love the time you put into the events and attempts to keep it all balanced.
