Bounty Hunter in Newport

OK, I just logged on in South Newport to be murdered by a Bounty Hunter. I have come to understand that some of his reason for being may be to extract revenge on those who have killed too many city guards. Fine. Or so it would be if I ever killed a Newport Guard (or knowingly assisted someone who was). This being the case I assume it is a) a bug or b) he is exacting bounties for other infractions.

Rather irksome given I have tried to stay on good faction with towns so I may move about unmolested.

Any thoughts?
 
What race/class?

One thing that came to mind was the new lock picking changes that rolled out.
 
Barbarian Shaman.

Guess race/class may play into it. Some warning might have been nice given I just renewed my Newport vendor for a month. So much for get rid of Nexus so people congregate in the cities and not dead/low zones.
 
As a barb shaman, unless you unknowningly damaged faction (assisted somone that was on hate list or managed to drop faction some other way), I would find it hard that NP doesnt like you.
 
Indeed. I am normally cautious about healing etc in town as I know the impact it can have on faction. I guess Im most curious if this is an unexpected result of the changes or if somehow I have wrecked faction unknowingly in the past. I worked Newport faction up for port neck and have been careful not to jeopordize it. /shrug
 
I just have to say:
Bounty Hunters are the dumbest fucking idea ever.
