Boss Battles

I think it would be really fun to have a boss system, or at least a few new bosses, who worked on a different level than old style ones. Small empty zones would be used to 'chase' the boss mob through the zone. You could start with a standard high end exp zone. You gather your raid and fight in to where the boss is. He emotes some gibberish for all to hear and then teleports off to his own 'realm' or somesuch. Then the guild must step on a pad where he was, or activate some clickable entity there to 'follow' the boss to his home world. There, they could defeat him in multiple forms (well, same form, different level of difficulty each time) as he retreats deeper into is home. Untill he is finaly destroyed. Each time, he could unleash a new bag of tricks as he teleports off(is technically killed, but as far as roleplaying is concerned, he is just weakened and teleports back deeper again).

I know it sounds boring and drole on the outside, but if you stop and think about the possiblilities for extremely diverse and RP ish encounters, then this is a decent idea!

Best wishes!

Don't think its possible.

Sorry for the minor hijacking, but did you used to play on Zebuxoruk? Your forum handle seems familiar.

I think it is... You simply have the 'psuedo boss' instead of an aggro attack, have him say his little speech, despawn, leaving in that room an area/door which acts like a zone-in to the boss chamber. You then respawn the 'true boss' in the new zone and continue the game from that point on.

Used to play on Tholluxe Paells (sp?) As Yaladwen Elementalker(mage's 4ever!!!)

Anyways, yea, the idea was that instead of the usual run up to it and kill, you have to go through various stages where anything could happen. This could include spawning of minions (after one form of the boss) or some sort of long duration uncurable debuff or minor DoT after another form, it's just the concept really of stages of a battle I guess.

Prison does have interesting boss battles, but those are simply HARD CORE high end encounters. None of the ones that I have encountered in prison have acted in this way however, so perhaps I just have to get in deeper.

lol... :)

It's pretty much as you described it...give or take a few things.

If you followed the storyline heavy background to prison you will find you have to chase a boss called taeshlin to progress through the zone. Doing this means killing sub-boss's in your way and keying in to differant areas. This all starts in the zone Everchill. Through vaporous projections you find that you are trying to free a wizard trapped in prison named admyrrza(sp). Now if you mean having a boss you track and wound etc and chase through a zone like the beowulf saga than this is probably as close as you can get to it in the game atm.

Yes well, WR died before phoenix got to deep into prison, but yea, i did mean chasing the boss itself. However, i do think prison is the richest and most involved part of the plot. It is a lot of fun. This sort of thing would be fun to do for low lvls. Especially if it was tuned so that it would give enough benefit.(I.E. they would get significant reward for the questing involved for the zone and storyling following to warant not directly grinding away at exp)
