Bloodletter

I just thought I'd throw this out there for consideration.

The twice-upgraded bloodletter: http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/wanelo/items.php?id=10059&charid=1215431

It seems to me that the bloodletter is a bit out of balance with the quest required to get it. First note that the proc is pretty minimal (a dot that starts with 8 damage then adds 2 additional damage per tick, overwriting itself and restarting at 8 if it procs a second time), and it doesn't really have any stats to make it all that appealing. That leaves us with the ratio, 12dmg 20dly.

For the second upgrade you need to kill a level 62 mob, the diseased beetle in DN. I don't remember exactly what it hits for, but somewhere in the 300s as I recall. In other words, in order to one-group it you need a group at least approaching level 65. But consider the benefit this weapon will provide for a monk or a bst approaching 65.

From http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3327, the monk and beast fist damage tables:

* Level 60: 12/20
* Level 63: 13/19
* Level 65: 13/18

By the time you get to level 60 the ratio is identical. When you hit 63, it's quite a bit worse. You have the stats and proc to offset this, but by the same token you also lose any damage bonus you get from +fire/cold damage gloves and any +h2h skill modifiers. What's more, the weight on the mace remains 3.7. For a one-hander, that's pretty hefty, at least as far as a monk is concerned.

The conclusion of this is that the weapon is useless for any monk/bst able to attain it on his own. Likewise, a warrior by that level should have much higher aggro weapons, and a ranger is likely to have something with higher DPS. That would suggest to me that either A) it's intended for twinks, which I doubt; or B) it's a bit underpowered given the quest required to get it.

Just some food for thought.

Also, if changes are to be made, perhaps you could at least consider modifying the weight: either reducing the weight by 1.0 with each upgrade, or maybe knocking 2-3 pounds off for only the final version.

For what is one of the better quests ive seen, ill agree from what i know and have read from this post , that the item is a major let down.

This was one of my considerations for a beastlord early on but i realized id be better off in the long run just saving up for something else and not trying to go through all of that'

The more you look at it also , the more it looks like some decent warrior offhand , but then again at the levels needing to get it upgraded ,it would be crap , making it a decent twink item if you got the time and dedication

Yeah, for me it's just a twink item; one that I'll remove in favor of bare hands when my monk gets into the 60s--the range at which it should be obtainable for a non-twink.

I have this on my bst, only upgraded once tho, and i got it around 55ish. Really disapointed in it, now it pretty much rots in my bank since i use my bare fists more than anything else.

The problem with just making this weapon better is that it is pretty easy as a twink quest. If a high level requirement was added with each upgrade, along with an upgrade to the stats of the weapon, it might make for a more balanced quest/item. Right now the quest to a normal main player, not using it as a twink weapon, is simply not worth doing.
