Bloodfire

Dalayan Adventurer
I'm posting this for the possible re-tinkering of stats and effects on the items from the Bloodfire Wing, in Tower of Tarhyl. Arghol Bloodpyre (the mini) is ranked at between Lower Thaz and Upper Thaz in difficulty, and High Lord Scorith (the boss) is ranked at Upper Earth Thaz boss difficulty. I was only able to get a few of the loots, I'm quite sure that some of the loot is unfound, and I probably forgot some of the other loot that they drop.

Sanguis Regina
This sword is very nice but lacks the HP and amazing crit strike/stun resist that the 2hb that Earth boss drops, while I don't want it to be just a clone, I do think it could use a HP boost (20-30 hp) and something else to make it desirable, perhaps a 2 hand slashing mod (probably +10), or a more better ratio so it can compete with the better ratio of the 2hb, even some sort of minor focus effect would make this wonderful for class's to use over Greatstaff, (RangeI, AfflictE, BaneE).

Scorith's Facewrap
This wrap needs a good look at, the clicky is not amazing but gives it a nice flavor, but there are other better masks from lower tiers available (Perception, Crystalline Monocle, Shifting face of the Controller), they all have more mana/hp, and/or more saves. There are a lot more masks that a beastlord would use over this as well, Enthann's mask, Nashtavs are around the same tier and the crit strike and ferocity make them *awesome*. I would suggest adding another pet focus (comp str or health 7) that would make it extremely lucrative for a mage/necro and adding crit strike or ferocity so that a beast would use it as well for the stats and not the clicky/focus.

Blood Mist Amice
This mantle needs something to make it more viable to use than Ghuros, from Yashira, I wouldnt say adding crit strike would be the way to go, to keep it different than other items, perhaps some +ATK or amazing saves. -Aggro isn't spectacular for any of the classes who can use this mantle.

Wrap of Purified Blood
This belt doesn't really compare to any other belts in the surrounding tiers. The clicky has an absurdly long cast time that isnt very useful to begin with, you can get 3 casts of the lower disease cure off before this one finishes casting. It really needs a ton of mana, or some kind of focus to make it more viable to use than Conviction, perhaps give the belt casting speed inc 6 or 7, and bump the saves up a bit.

Elaborate Ruby Hairpin
The focus this has is very nice, but going through Thaz, most people have this focus and there are 2 ears from lower thaz that have the same ammount of mana, perhaps adding saves or a bit more mana would make this more attractive to use over the other available ears.

Final Note
The Choker and the Writhing Drape of knotted veins [fomelo tani] look overall good but I'd ask that they be given a brief looksee at. The other items that haven't dropped or I forgot should be given a brief look as well if possible. Keep all thoughts constructive and non-trolling. Anyone who has done Scorith knows that he is extremely hard and wipes are only a second away no matter how geared you get. Please do not post negative comments until you know the fight, thanks.

On a second look, the choker could use something to make it more viable for a shadowknight to wear, currently it would be a downgrade from Cajef, I would loose 30 saves and the FT and disease focus is laughable for a SK to take over the choker. Give it more AC or HP or something tankish (Damage reduction?).

This item I have been trying to get looked at for a while now. I love the idea of a 2h +10 mod. There are no items in the game like that at all, would be a great alternative to the greatstaff then.

As for the rest of the items, they all seem like they lack something. The encounter that drops the Haripin, Sword, Face and neck is Definitely as hard if not harder then Upper Thaz Earth Boss. Also the belt, Wrap of Purified Blood is completely pointless to get with a belt like, Conviction Girdle of the Mother that drops off of a lower tier mob.

I didn't want to post another thread because I try to avoid it when possible! :toot:

But, these caught my eye as being underpowered too.

As you can see this item is just amazing for a warrior, however, for the other classes, not so much. Other than 220 mana, while nice, lacks any sort of draw for a priest type class. The Thazerans legs all have roughly the same amount of mana, a few more saves, and either flowing thought (druid and shaman) or mana cons 7 (cleric). This item drops from the next wing after bloodfires, and both boss's mini and boss, are well above anything in thaz in terms of difficulty. I am loathe to ask for flowing thought, because i think they should be different than thaz legs, that become near unreplacable, I would suggest one of 2 things, bump them to 250 mana and MC7, perhaps adding a bit more resists and another misc. effect (stun resist?)

5% spell shield or mind shield would make them nice imo, but as of right now, they are fairly lusterless (lol).

I thought Id take the time to make a suggestion on the Lusterless Greave although Im guessing Zaela may already have something in mind for them. First a comparisson of priest legs available from IP and higher level encounters:

Lusterless Greaves (Tower of Tarhyl)
AC: 57
STA: +15 AGI: +20 DEX: +15
HP: +180
MANA: +220
MR: +9 CR: +9 PR: +9 DR: +9
WAR CLR DRU SHM

Zevaj, Leggings of Ruined Dreams (Inner Prison – Deyranni)
AC: 31
STR: +4 STA: +4 AGI: +4 DEX: +4 WIS: +17 CHA: +18
HP: +145 MANA: +195
MR: +4 FR: +4 CR: +4 PR: +4 DR: +4

Legplates of the Divine (Thaz Tower)
AC: 38
Focus Effect: Mana Conservation VII
STR: +14 STA: +12 DEX: +10 WIS: +18
HP: +155 MANA: +200
MR: +9 FR: +9 CR: +9 PR: +9 DR: +9

**Augmentable with an additional 25 mana with Fire-infused Diamond

Glade-Mist Pants (Thaz Tower)
AC: 28
Effect: Flowing Thought II
STA: +12 WIS: +18 CHA: +15
HP: +165 MANA: +205
MR: +9 FR: +9 CR: +9 PR: +9 DR: +9
Aggression: -2
DRU
**Augmentable with an additional 15 mana with Water-infused Peridot

Spiritcaller Greaves (Thaz Tower)
AC: 35
Effect: Flowing Thought I
STR: +9 STA: +15 WIS: +20 CHA: +22
HP: +160 MANA: +190
MR: +9 FR: +9 CR: +9 PR: +9 DR: +9
SHM
**Augmentable with an additional 10 mana with Earth-infused Amber

As the cleric and druid Thaz legs can be made to be 220+ mana with a Thaz aug and the shaman legs have FT making the effective mana over 220 the lack of any desirable effect means these will rot every time after a guilds warrior has them. I would assume that as these are already the best warrior legs currently available that the developers would want to avoid making them too much better for a warrior when boosting the desirability for priests.

Some areas these could be improved include adding 2 or 3 more to each resist and adding 5% or more spell ward to make these a great situational item when faced with unavoidable or irresistible AE encounters. The main problem I see with trying to make these more desirable even as situational gear by only adding effects to these is like Zaela pointed out, priest make gear choices based largely on how it impacts their mana pool. Even with a boost to resists and spell ward I think you would be hard pressed to make an item that would make druids swap out their Thaz legs. Adding more mana is going to be a must even for clerics and shaman given the Thaz leg stats. The addition of a specialization boost, FT or mana conservation 7 may also be needed to get priests out of their Thaz pants.

My suggestion for situational priest gear type upgrade:

Lusterless Greaves (Tower of Tarhyl)
AC: 57
Skill Mod: Specialize Sight/Warding +4%
STA: +15 AGI: +20 DEX: +15
HP: +180
MANA: +240
MR: +11 CR: +11 PR: +11 DR: +11
Spell Ward: 7%
WAR CLR DRU SHM

I thought Sight/Warding would be most in line with my intent of upgrading these as situational gear but if it would benefit warriors too much in the staff's eyes Focus/Mind could be used to make up for lost FT for druids or MC7 for clerics (who would likely be forced to swap in MC elsewhere).

If Zaela wasnt just joking that the point of them was that they be lusterless (ie: the junk loot of on that table) then I suggest that priests be removed from them as no high end priests wear them and they will only serve to invite S&R posts from priests in the future :)

I could be wrong, but I assumed she was implying that not every item is meant to be AMAZING for every class that could use them. The item is pretty nice for a warrior and not horrible with 220 mana for a priest class, considering it's being assumed every priest class would have one of the other listed legs which isn't always the case (trying to play devil's advocate here).

I personally don't like the idea of removing a class from an item just because there are better items out there for them, or because it's not as good for one class as it is for another, but that's just my 2cp. I do however see how some type of effect that would benefit the priest's classes alone wouldn't hurt to make the item follow the progression of legs for their class.

I fully realize that each item is not intended to be an amazing upgrade to every preceding item. That said, once your warrior has these it is very disappointing to see these drop after the amount of work it takes to get to the mob that drops them. I wasnt requesting that they be made amazing, simply modified in a way that would make them at least situationally useful to priests :)

Yes, both Ruin clerics currently use Zevaj but are ultimately waiting on their turn for Thaz plate legs so they can upgrade from Coral-crusted spaulders (MC7). They would use the Lusterless if the got them but only until Thaz legs drop for them and given the difficulty of the ToT wing these come from they legs shouldnt be merely a make-do item until they can get the better legs from a less difficult encounter. This is of course only my opinion which may differ greatly from that of the staff or other players :)
