Yeah, so, I know people breeze through the very early levels without even trying, but still...
The wandering Bloodclaw Orcs in the Steamfont newbie hunting ground (the "pit") strike me as needlessly pain-in-the-butt-o-riffic. I don't mind wandering KoS mobs in newbie areas, but given the extremely hilly nature of the terrain, there's no way you can spot these guys coming. Worse even, while most wandering KoS mobs in newbie areas are level 1-3 or so, these guys seem to be level 4+. In other words, unless you are twinked or have a higher level holding your hand, your first 3-4 levels as a lowbie Gnome and Dwarf trying to resist to the exodus to Newport will be spent killing one mob, engaging a second one, then running to the guards and back, rinse and repeat.
My suggestions:
-Remove them from the "pit" area. Perhaps a bit too harsh. Lil Orcs can play too, after all.
-Drop their level a little bit, making them like the wandering KoS "mossy skeletons" (i.e. level 2-3 or so).
-Make the starting faction with Bloodclaw Orcs non-KoS for Gnomes and Dwarves, but so close to KoS that a single kill or two is enough to tip the balance. That way you can control when they will become a pain in the bottom.
-Reduce their numbers so that they're still there, but not likely to run into you every minute or so. I must have lead half a dozen of them to the guards by the time I dinged 3, and will probably run another bunch by the time I can kill these guys by myself.
Pretty inconsequential, but anything that can help not scaring people away from that continent...
Thanks.
