Best version of THE GAME to install

In my experience, I've had the best luck (least amount of patching) by installing the PLATINUM version of that one game. The Titanium version uses some different zone file types that will cause you to crash on zoning is what I've heard.

You can get PLATINUM for about 10 bucks on ebay. In some cases that includes shipping even. Pretty good deal.

So I'd recommend that version if you're a new player (or if you want a copy for a reinstall or something).

I only installed the game, grabbed the SoD patcher and it worked. No patching to Live or anything.

So um...check Amazon.com or some other site. Ebay isn't the only solution. Nobody is going to post a link to downloads. This thread is for people who want to own a legit copy of the game.

Does the game use post-PoP zones? Are expansions post PoP absolutely needed?
I have the original game and all the expansions up to PoP from the time I was playing on the Live servers. I stopped something like 2 years and a hald ago).
And I don't feel like buying the platinum pack: I am not that rich atm, I have already bought those 4 boxes x2 ( 2 accounts) at the high price ( 45$ to get them early in europe, that's what it costed to be in an uber guild back in the days..) back in the days, and I would prefer to see them serve :keke:.

Problem being that you'll need to patch to Live still I think. SoD uses things from Legacy of Ykesha and Lost Dungeons of Norrath I believe.

If you do install with your old cd's, make SURE you save all of your old SRO and OASIS files as Live now uses new zone files for them and I am unsure if they'll be deleted during patching.

Btw, and off topic, do you know how "Kelval" would not be accepted as a name? I can't see how it would break the naming policy. Or would someone already have taken it? It doesn't appear on Fomelo though. And Kelval has always been the name of my clerics from the beginning of the ages... Anyways, if I can't have it, I'll change .

Could be that someone used the name Kelval before and was a jerkface and got banned...so it's possible that even though it's not in fomelo as a character, the name may be in use by the banned words filter.
